Granted this lady needs to step down since her position requires handing out marriage licenses.

That said the reporting on this is completely slanted to advance an agenda. She is not issuing ANY marriage licenses. She isn't just refusing to issue marriage licenses to gays. So the headlines and stories all lead the reader or watcher to believe that she is issuing marriage licenses to couple of different sexes and turning away gay couples. This is incorrect according to video NBC had on the Today Show.

Why not report this story with all the info? Why the need to leave off certain facts? Why lead to a false conclusion?

As to Jsc pointing out her words and beliefs don't seem to jive with her actions, does that matter in the eyes of the law? Previous cases of religious accommodation say no. Courts have forced businesses to offer accommodations to employees who "convert" after hiring. Are you saying we should apply a test to compare someone's actions to their stated religious beliefs before granting an accommodation? I doubt it.

At the end of the day I would like to see all government employees take her position. Don't issue marriage licenses to traditional couples or gay couples. Just get the government completely out of the marriage business.

She was doing just that all the way up until the SCOTUS decision in June. It's only been the last couple of months that she's been denying any licenses.

And your point? Gays getting married wasn't legal in KY until the SCOTUS decided it was. At that point she hasn't issued any marriage licenses.

She would have to be impeached to be removed from office and the governor has already said that isn't happening.

My question is whether or not Kentucky even has a marriage statute at all these days. Same sex marriages are prohibited under Kentucky law. If that is struck down, is it severable?

Her job is to issue the licenses, which the SCOTUS has decided can go to any two individuals.

I think the office should have the ability to so that this whore doesn't have to do it, so long as someone else in the office can, but, if her refusal to do it means it doesn't get done, she needs to be fired.

The label next to her name means nothing. This example proves that you should look beyond the label.

That said had her label been R, it would have been mentioned in the first two paragraphs of the print stories or first ten seconds of the TV versions. Not surprised since it was D it wasn't mentioned in most stories.
