Get plastered across the top of every topic here?

Does that somehow pay the bills? Or are those who run it afraid no one will pay attention if it isnt at the top of every topic?

While we are at it why do some areas of the country put the word "the" in front of highway numbers? For example, go east on the 10 for 30 miles, while other would say go east on I-10 for 30 miles.

Somewhere in suburbia, a tube of toothpaste was left without the top on.

"the" (highway #) is a left coast thing. The only time we use it is in reference to a road with an actual name such at the joisy turnpike, the mass pike, etc... Interstates are generally just called I-##. State highways, just ##. For instance, I live a short distance off 83 (state road 83). It is not "the 83".

In thes parts, two-digit Interstates get the "I" designation (I-70; I-35); three digit interstate highways are simply " 435" or "470".

Unique to the Flyover, i believe, is our reference to U.S. and MO highways. We drive 40 Highway or 50 Highway or 7 Highway. Not U.S. 40 or Highway 50 or Route 7.

In LA it used to be the San Diego Freeway, the Golden State Freeway, the Harbor Freeway, the Pasadena Freeway, the Pomona Freeway etc., etc., and no numbers on the mileage signs. Confusing as all fuck if you didn't know which was which.

Except where 435 intersects 210 - then it's just called "bottleneck clusterfuck" or "death trap".

Houston is like that. They use the general compass direction the freeway faces as you leave downtown. So there is the Southwest Freeway, East-Tex freeway, South Freeway, etc. however all the signs referred to the actual Hwy number.
