I don't care about actual rankings...I'm enjoying the weekly conference cannibalism.

Cal at Utah is the "elimination game of the week" for next week. The Pac-12 will be down to one unbeaten. UCLA was such a disappointment this week.

The Big XII having the round robin will naturally thin itself down to one unbeaten at most.

Two unbeatens in each B1G division...could set up to have two unbeatens meet in Indianapolis. Northwestern at Michigan is the best game in conference next week.

Florida State-Clemson meet up on November 7...the ACC will be down to one unbeaten, if that many by then.

The SEC has unbeatens in both divisions. I think everyone is waiting for Florida to finally lose...I don't buy them as a contender. LSU plays both Florida and A&M. The LSU is the most legit unbeaten in that league. Ole Miss screwed themselves.

until they line up and beat texas landry jones 60 point style i'm not going to believe in Oklahoma.

mediocre against bad is always a crap shoot in Dallas.

2013, Oklahoma beat Notre Dame in South Bend and Alabama in New Oreleans.....and lost to a shit Texas team.

John Blake beat a ranked Texas team.

make no mistake, Texas has and will always be tremendous pussies.

Mikey, Michigan State isn't the second best team right now. If you're doing it based on "forecast," they aren't the #2 team either as the injuries continue to pile up. MSU lost their best LB for the season, their best CB for the season, and their best safety for the season. They also have three starting OL out, starting TE, starting WR, and a few "depth" guys as well. They have scraped by three "mid majors," a down Oregon team, and awful Purdue. I'm just glad MSU has a bye Rutgers next Saturday; the staff hopefully has the luxury to keep some guys out for this game and get them back healthy for the Michigan game the following weekend, which is looking much more difficult than it did pre-season. That defense is nasty.

I haven't followed MSU that closely. Saw the Oregon game and was impressed, but didn't know the current injury situation. I would probably move them down based on that, but I still think they would beat either TCU or Baylor who have basically played Pop Warner schedules.

I moved Stanford up to the top 10 just because they've been on a roll. While the other PAC-12 teams have been beating each other up they've gotten better and better each week (now 3-0 in conference), while flying under the radar because of a pathetic first week performance against an underrated Northwestern team. Hogan was 17-19 against Zona and is now in the top 10 nationally in efficiency after a shitty start. McCaffery leads the nation in all-purpose yards and has rushed for 477 in three conference games. In three conference games the team has averaged 284 on the ground. Barry Sanders is averaging 9.7 per carry. They put up over 300 in each of the last two games (admittedly Zona was without their best defensive player). Their biggest question mark has been the DL but they limited the conference's leading runner (Nick Wilson) to 46 yards on 17 carries and seem to be getting better every week.

OK maybe some wishful thinking but the schedule is setting up very nicely...
  • They have a bye this week before playing UCLA next Thursday. Kevin Anderson should be healthy by then and Hogan still has a bum ankle which could use some time to heal.
No game against Utah (or ASU) unless they both win their divisions.
The only road games left are at Wazzoo and Colorado.
The final three games (Oregon, Cal and Notre Dame) will be a big test, but are all at home.
If they can win out and beat Utah, or whoever, in the CCG (again, wishful thinking but not out of the question) they should be a lock for the playoff.

Stanford is in a pretty good spot right now. If they win out they're in the playoff imo due to the overall strength of the Pac 12. But just in case, I'd be a huge Northwestern fan the rest of the way, in the event that final playoff spot is whittled down to Stanford and another 1-loss team. The "quality loss" comparison could be the defaulting tie-breaker.

I'm looking forward to the Northwestern/Michigan game this weekend. Never thought I would type that sentence.

Yep, definitely a Northwestern fan right now, though I wouldn't want the final spot to come down to a choice between a one loss Northwestern vs. a one loss Stanford.

Wouldn't mind seeing Harbaugh take a dump (figuratively) either.

I heard Greg McElroy say today that, looking at game film, Williams wasn't running his routes, would absolutely not block, and wasn't even going full-speed. What a shitty teammate. What pro team is gonna draft this loser?
Oakland.
