RIP McLean Stevenson. Toe-tagged in '96, but since we're starting threads about M*A*S*H characters portrayed by long-dead actors, I thought I'd contribute.

Larry Linville appeared to be dead while passed out on the floor of the Vital Spot's mens room in Geneseo, NY.

He actually died 15 years later in April of 2000.

Re: M*A*S*H and reality. I asked my Uncle Hugh about the movie and the TV show. He was a Colonel in the US Army Medical Corps and served in Korea, not in a M*A*S*H unit but as a pathologist. He said the TV show was pretty bogus, but the movie was more like it. One man's opinion, I know, but he was there.
