Was thinking more of pop music, not hippy jamborees and talk shows. And proper baritones aswell :(

Sadly, most of the great rock and roll saxophonists have bumped off this mortal coil. Also, I can't recall any recent, popular rock band that feature a sax on a regular basis. It seems as if that great sound we once had is phasing out. Too bad. Clarence Clemons, Gerry Rafferty, Sonny Rollins (still alive I think), etc. Just don't make 'em like that anymore.

Uhm, you know he didn't play sax, right?

I would say my boys, but I guess their heyday with both a lead and rhythm sax was over 30 years ago...

Just included him due to the signature sax line that is one of the most instantly recognizable in pop and rock. Same thing applies to Al Stewart on "Year of the Cat."

By the way Dins, upon further review, according to several bio web sites, GR did play sax as well as several other intruments. Dunno about that.
