Our nation continuing to circle the drain. How this douche got bond is beyond me, and this judge should be incarcerated himself.

Gunman fatally shoots Pennsylvania churchgoer after fight over seat at Sunday service
A churchgoer shot a fellow parishioner in a Pennsylvania church after a fight broke out over a seat in the sanctuary on Sunday, authorities say.

The argument started when a churchgoer told Robert Braxton III, 27, he was sitting in seats reserved for two other church members during Sunday service at the Keystone Fellowship Church, district attorney Kevin Steele said.

He yelled "don't f---ing touch me" after a church member tapped him on the shoulders to let him know he was in someone else's seat, an affidavit obtained by NBC Philadelphia said.

Witnesses said Braxton started causing a fuss over the seat, but soon calmed down after talking to a church usher and a pastor.

But the situation soon turned violent when Mark Storms, 46, approached Braxton, carrying a gun in his hand and telling the 27-year-old to get out of the sanctuary.

The gun-toting suspect then flashed a Concealed Weapons Permit badge, which the district attorney’s office belives was purchased online.

“When he came over, he had a gun out, escalating the situation,” Steele said at a press conference on Thursday. “Braxton then took a swing at the defendant, punching him in the jaw.”

"F--- you and your fake badge, get the f--- out of here," witnesses recalled Braxton telling Storms. "That's not a real gun," another witness remembered hearing.

Just before punching Storms, Braxton asked, "What are you going to do, shoot me?" according to the court records.

The gunman then opened fire, blasting Braxton once in the chest and again in the right arm.

Braxton was rushed to Abington-Lansdale Hospital, where he died from his multiple gunshot wounds.

The 46-year-old gunman was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment.

At Storms’ arraignment, the alleged killer insisted that he used a weapon in self-defense. His bail is set at $250,000. Storms told police that he was hoping to defuse the situation by showing a gun, which, according to court documents, he's done in the past.
Couple things here. Sounds like Braxton was a POS and the world is a better place without him. Get in an argument over a fukking church seat? Also sounds like quick draw is seriously lacking in judgement and doesn't need to be carrying around a gun. There certainly are situations where pulling out a gun can defuse a situation. This does not appear to be one of those.

As for his being bonded, I would want to know more about the guy, but it seems reasonable. I doubt he got up that morning and said "I think I'll bring my shootin' iron to the service this morning just so I can shoot me some mouthy kneeeger".

Quick draw is certainly guilty of something or other. Being very stupid, mostly. He is not guilty of murder. The moment asshole threw a punch, that was taken off the table. I suspect he will go down on some for of manslaughter and prolly won't ever see a gun permit again.

Lastly, it is probably a really bad idea to ask a dude with a gun "what are you gonna do, shoot me?" It is most certainly a bad idea to follow up the question with a punch to the jaw.

The dipshit started the entire incident by flashing his gun to "defuse the situation." Again, how he got bond is disgraceful.

Who brings a fucking piece to church in the first place? Leave it in the fukking car.

I look at this as a win - win. One dipshit is dead, the other is ruined. Darwin wins again. Just sorry some non-POS had to watch it.

I guess thumpers wanting to carry isn't such a bad thing after all.

Smackaholic you sound like a world class idiot here.
Pulling a gun will rarely "defuse" anything. By nature it's an escalation.

As I said in my post, brandishing a weapon over trivial dumb shit is a really bad idea, but there are cases where doing so can be a really good idea. I am not sure that spray's example is a good one, but there are cases. And knowing that there is a possibility that people around you just MIGHT be packing generally does make people act politely.

Yeah, church is the best place to test that hypothesis.

How about you link me to the post where I said quick draw did anything wise.

Ass for carrying a gun into a church being a dumb thing to do, I can think of a handful of balck folk in SC who might disagree. Wait, that's right, they can't disagree because they are fukking deader than Prince. But, I better there are some family members who might think too bad Jerome wasn't packing when he went to bible study that night. He might have stopped that batshit crazy racist POS that shot him. And this is not the only case where someone walked into a church and shot the place up.

If someone is brandishing a weapon in your direction, don't say anything that can become a question of fact.

I've always said that

Color is irrelevant, but, I'm not surprised to see the standard dog whistle from the progtard contingent.

I will repeat what I said earlier....again.

Quick draw is a fukking moron. From what we know, which admittedly ain't much, pulling a gun out was a really fukking bad idea and he should face the consequences for being a fukking moron. That being said, I don't see a murder charge sticking. The other dude quite obviously thinks he's a fukking badass. Well, thought he was, anyhoo. He went so far as to punch a dude in the face that was brandishing a gun. A reasonable person could expect that someone brazen enough to punch an armed man in the face is prolly not gonna stop there. There were quite a few witnesses to this act, so I assume that they will get a good idea of what happened after the punch. If asshole threw a punch, then clearly backed away, a rather serious level of manslaughter, maybe even a lesser form of murder might stick in court. If asshole looked as though he was gonna follow the first punch with with a second helping of whupass, then quickdraw was justified in shooting him, because not doing so could have resulted in mr badass taking his weapon and then, who the fukk knows what would happen. This does not excuse his initial act of being a fukking moron, but, it ain't murder. It ain't even a serious level of manslaughter. Exactly WTF it is could be better answered by 88 or JSC. I think it comes down to what happened between the punch and the shot.

Everybody should be OK with this. What, exactly, is the problem here? Don't punch people in the face and they won't kill you. It shouldn't be that tough.

Or, don't point guns at people with no good reason and they won't punch you in the face.

That was likely quick draw's second mistake. Had he immediately pointed it at BB's face, he may have more thoroughly conveyed his intentions. Maybe he should have fired a few warning shots, Joe Biden style.

Probably so. Once again, two raging shitbags have been eliminated from society one permanently and the other for a good many years. This is good.

If I read that right, he pulled his gun on another dude that just shot his OL in the foot. Pretty sure that if I ever find myself in that situation, if I pull mine out, I am going to immediately cap that fukker.

Yes it will.

About 15 years ago, we had this black guy that kept coming around our neighborhood wanting to clean out gutters. I let him do it once, but thought he was weird (probably a methster). Anyway, he comes back again, and again. And again - all within about a week. He got snappy with me the last time, and I said "don't come back here again because you won't like me if you do".

Son of a bitch came back 3 days later. I got my long barrel Colt .45 out and opened the door. He says "hey man - I'm back here to get yo gutters again". I said "No - you've been warned, so today you get to die". I went off on his ass, whilst occasionally tapping him in the head with said .45 barrel and said "I will blow your fucking brains out if I ever see you in this neighborhood again."

His eyes got really, really big. He was never seen in the neighborhood again, either.
Jesus. That's hardcore. :o
