Fourteen months ago, my son enlisted in the US Army. He had just finished his junior year in high school. On Sunday, we are taking him to MEPS/LAX. He'll spend 10 weeks at Fort Jackson, SC for basic. Then its on to Fort Eustis, VA for training. Will miss him dearly and am very proud.

It's called basic training in the Army. Not sure of these days, but I believe in the Viet Nam era there were 8 or 9 people in support roles for every combat trooper. Supplies and such don't just get where they are needed by magic. I salute all those who choose to serve us no matter what their MOS is.

Not so sure about that. Not knocking anyone that volunteers to serve. They all have my respect, but supply types are not generally the highest scorers. That being said, competent supply people are worth their weight in gold. Incompetent ones will grind an army to a halt.

That is a great MOS. I hope he does well in it. If he does get out though, after an enlistment, odds are pretty good he won't work in aviation field on the outside. For some reason, that field pays for shit in the private sector. But, there are plenty of other companies that would pay him well to fix shit.
