Dealing with folks who think "AR" means "assault rifle" is a tough nut to crack. The first thing I try to educate people about guns is the difference between a magazine and a clip. Next, fully automatic and semiautomatic. Later I can get into how Oswald used a bolt action rifle that had ammunition that did the job.
