It's Auburn vs. Jax State all over again. Even if Tenn. wins, they're gonna sink - as well they should.
i meant more they blew a big lead against OU last year at Neyland in the "back in the big time" game for Butch, had a rape thing in the off season that was big deal until Baylor pushed all of college football misdoings off the headlines, and Appy State takes the #9 Vols to OT and needs a helluva play i guess fumble by to win.

i really thought Appy State's 3rd down play call was crap. no one is buying all that motion and stuff. it's a 13 to 13 game.

Remember when Spurrier used to say, "You can't spell Citrus without UT?" I bet UT dreams about that level of relevance these days.

You can't plan a loose ball, i.e. The fumble rooskie. However this fumble was not planned. The QB was reaching for the goal line and fumbled.

There is a restriction on 4th down. On 4th down only the fumbler may recover a fumble and advance it or keep the yardage post fumble. So had it been 4th down last night only the QB would have been able to recover the fumble in the endzone and have the TD. If someone else recovered (the WR) then the ball would go back to the spot of the fumble and it would have been App State's ball.

So this is the mighty Volunteer team whose balls have been firmly entrenched in ESPN's mouth all off-season?

Color me unimpressed.

I watched much of this game at the bar. App St was the better team for the vast majority of the game, they just got tight at the end. And then UT needed a 50/50 fumble recovery in the end zone in OT to win.

What did Tennessee do to reserve that #9 ranking? What have they done? What have they won? Oh, just because they're "loaded with talent?" I watched all that super studded 5-star talent get mauled in the trenches on both sides of the ball by little ol' App St. Oh, and Josh Dobbs sucks balls. Why is anyone under any sort of impression that this guy is a good QB?

Fuck Tennessee. Fuck the SEC. Fuck the ESPN Off Season Hype Machine.

But RACK the return of college football.

Yes, a handful of teeth in the crowd, but also a ton of hot blondes.

Did a Bama fan just insult the physical appearance of another team's fanbase?

Did I really just read that?

Tennessee better get their act together before next week's giant spectacle at Bristol, or VT is going to make it not much of a game for the 160K in attendance.

Which, BTW, would be an awesome game to attend.

Provided you have decent seats. Some of those sight lines are gonna be brutal. A good chunk of those folks are probly gonna be watching the game on their phones.

Actually, check that. I doubt you can stream video on the Obama phone.

From the little I've seen of "The Last Great Coliseum," I think you'd need a helicopter to get a decent view of the game. Hell, the coaches might be watching on their phones, too.

But I'm thinking the whole weekend is going to be a giant party, way out in the Middle of Nowhere (drove through Bristol last year, which is somewhat close to... nothing. It's like the Nevada of the East, only with trees).

Hot blondes with no teeth? In.

As I've mentioned, I traveled a bunch last summer. Spent a couple of non-consecutive weeks in Tennessee (Nashville and Chattanooga).

I have to say, begrudgingly, that Tennessee has a better ratio of hot chicks than most places.

And when you get away from the larger cities, it gets really rednecky, really quickly.

So if my team doesn't dominate I'm not allowed to talk shit? I don't think I like that rule.

MSU might set the NCAA record for penalties tonight. ND is going to truck them, I fear.

Mississippi State came awfully close to pulling the upset, but South Alabama hangs on 21-20.
