That's a little misleading. It was built in Australia and leased for 10 years by the US Navy for testing as a proof of concept prototype. Now it's a logistics catamaran (cargo ship) leased by the UAE.
Not to say that it's a good thing that it was sunk, but also not exactly a military attack on the US Navy as this article would like you to conclude, and not a threat to the US except possibly as a threat to international shipping. This fight between has been going on since 2004.
<Obama reading from a prepared statement on his teleprompter>
"The only way to win this war is for the United States to lead from behind. In this the Iranians and I are in agreement: We should abdicate our role as world leader to the browner and yellower of nations... excuse me, that was my white half showing its' privilege. What I meant to say is that when we give the more ethnically diverse leaders of the world the reins of power they will show us Oppressor Nations how genuine peace can be won by smaller and more local forces who have a vested interest in maintaining the peace in their backyard. We, the carbon emitting and slavery tainted nations of the globe, have a responsibility to give these nations the opportunity to show us how it's done.
On that note, allow me to introduce the new conductor of Middle Eastern geopolitics, The Ayatollah of Iran."
So you want the President to put our military in the middle of every regional conflict that erupts anywhere in the world.
That should work out well.
I thought Congress was supposed to have something to say about fighting wars, but they're too busy blaming Obama for causing them to override his veto.

So did I but that only applies when a Republican is in the White House. Our military interventions in both Libya and Syria were certainly an unconstitutional use of military force and likely in violation of international law.
In a sane world, Bath House Barry would have been impeached and convicted.
