So JSC and others claimed the GOP...

was in dire straights and was ready to fall apart. There are plenty more quotes along these lines:
Chip wrote:Relax, merely because one political party was foolish enough to nominate a reality show barker as their nominee does not mean that the entire country is fucked, it is merely evidence of just how fucked up that one political party is.
JSC wrote:The Republicans have failed to nominate a legitimate candidate for the office, and now they are beginning to panic...
Jsc wrote:I think that Trump will get his ass kicked, and he should. I also think that the Senate switches to the Democrats.

However, I would argue that the Democratic party is much closer to implosion than is the GOP. Looking back on the time since Obama took office the Dems have lost control of both the House and the Senate. They have lost 904 seats in state Legislatures, the GOP now holds 56% of the state legislative seats, a 12% increase for them since Obama has been in office. Dems have lost 11 governors seats as well since Obama took office. (This is post the 2016 elections in which Dems gained 6 seats in the House, but most expected to take control of.)

1/3rd of the Dems seats in the House are from three states, California, Massachusetts and New York. In fact California accounts for more than all of the difference in the popular vote going Hillary's way. When you add in MA and NY, you have more than 10% of her total votes.

Instead of discussing why there is this historic shift away from the Democratic party their leaders, vocal supporters, and some in the media want to claim it is due to racist homophobes. Those type of takes are going to do nothing to help the Dems counter their losses. Further if this was actually true, voters in the Midwest would have to have become racist in the last 4 years since many of those who voted for Trump this year voted for Obama in the last two elections.

Will the Dems change this anytime soon or will they keep on the same path and continue to move more and more to the left? Will they make changes like Bernie or will they continue to double down on folks like Pelosi?

The alt-right took the GOP out back and put a bullet in the back of it's head.
This ain't your grand-daddy's Republican party...

Alt-right. :meds: :meds:

Go ahead and keep on with the "you're all racist" thingy. It worked soooo well.

And today, those fukking morons once again chose that miserable dried up old cunt as their leader. They'll never learn.

If Trump doesn't fukk this up and keeps his promise about loosing the regulatory stranglehold and simplifying the tax system, there will be actual economic growth. And if he does bring some manufacturing jobs back into urban areas the dems will really be up the creek. He's not even in office and he is convincing companies to not move. Funny how giving companies a reason to stay here can actually work.

It's gonna really be fun to watch the reps ram-rod SCOTUS appointments through with 52 votes because the dems thought it would be a good idea to change the rules when they had a slight majority. I just hope he gets to replace Ruth Buzzy Ginsburg. Putting Teduardo Cruz in her seat would be fukking hillarious.

Unlike your make believe Mikey, you can start with Politifact and then add a dose of New York Times and Washington Post.
