What is wrong with this dude? Why can't he even fulfill the most basic requirement of his profession: a fucking conference call. Un-fucking-believable.

Still a great matchup though. I remember being a young lad watching Casey Weldon and Amp Lee go up to the Big House and wax the Wolverines.

Had to look it up...that was '91. Weldon was the runner-up to Howard for the Heisman. I didn't realize FSU was independent back then. Helluva schedule they played that year...BYU, Michigan, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, LSU, Louisville, South Carolina, Miami, Florida and faced A&M in the Cotton Bowl.

I seem to remember Elvis Grbac throwing a pick-six in that game.

51-31 if I remember correctly. My mom bought us t-shirts later that year when we were in Tally.

I remember the billing and lead up to that game being the size and bulk of Michigan vs the speed and athleticism of the Noles.

Wow how times have changed.

If this game were played today (#1 vs #3 non-conf), it would undoubtedly be in primetime under the lights.

^^^ Wow, that interception was pathetic. Which was worse? How Grbac telegraphed that pass or how Desmond Howard collapsed when Terrell Buckley breathed on him while going for the pick?

Also, there must be some mistake: FSU actually traveled north for a non-conference game?

Remember the FSU-ND "Game of The Century" back in 1988?

Florida State built their program on road victories against BTP teams.

They have a "graveyard" of turf taken from road win fields.

They still have the sod cemetery. I saw one of their guys cutting out a piece post Miami this season.

1988 was before my time. I do remember 1993 FSU at ND.

You must be confusing FSU with UF

That's funny. This image immediately came to mind:

Maybe it's because a lot of teams were going from astroturf to natural grass back then.

agreed. i do have to put myself on the side of "it's fun to watch Harbough suffer" a bit. he does get constant fellatio from the media that doesn't always feel "deserved". they DID lose 3 of their last 4 games....against good competition but playoff teams win those games.

When you look at this game had FSU not gifted UM so much it never would have been close.

That said, good to see Harbaugh melting late. He wanted a foul for the defense in the neutral zone late and then wanted UNS on FSU while they were in Victory formation. Game would have been over but for him calling his TOs. Great quote after the game when an FSU player was asked what he thought about UM taking their TOs then, "It was great, more time for them and everyone watching to hear the WarChant."

Other than last night and the Colorado game...they were usually the better team in the first half in games. They would typically fade in the second half so it was good to see this group show they were capable of rallying from behind. The pass rush on Speight and the lack of running game...it could've gotten ugly.

They had an excellent defense this year but they gave up to many "splash plays" last night. Cook is a stud but we already knew that.

Call it loser talk but 3 close losses that they could've won...but if they were elite, they would've found ways to win those games. Alabama...they are not.

Maybe if they played some decent opponents non-conference instead of scheduling SEC style they'd have been more prepared for the tough teams and crunch time plays when they mattered.

Oh wellz. At least they're not as bad as your hockey team.

Colorado turned out to be a good non-con opponent...they get half credit for that.

No road games for the first half of the season wasn't helpful. Rutgers doesn't count as a road test. To Ohio State's credit, they had the trip to Norman under their belt right out of the gate.

They'll open next year in Dallas against Florida with all their new starters. I think that's a fair test for a first game.

And yes, the hockey team is rotten...lotsa young pups.

But it's not on the road. Why won't Harbaugh another tough early road game? Meyer does.

It's worse than that. Red has lost it. They aren't recruiting the same caliber of kids anymore to mask offensively Red's obvious disdain for defense. The goaltending is mediocre to bad because of the defense. They're barely better than MSU. Barely better! I've watched plenty of UM games this year, this isn't simply young guys because in the past the young guys were GOOD.

If they let Red stick around until he wants to leave, he'll be screwing the program for years. UM can become MSU. It has before.

ACC! ACC! ACC!

Mike Stoops is proving that he's NOT a good coach. He did't take Tech's option serious enough, and he's getting his ass kicked just like Kiffin did a few years ago when they whooped USC...
Mark Stoops is the HC at UK. Mike Stoops is the DC at Oklahoma. former U of Arizona HC.

Then don't accept the Bowl bid.

But I don't put much stock in this line that you have been trying to sell for a few years. Players generally want to play vs not playing. Add to it that it was their first Bowl game in three years and I call bull on this Schmick rumor.

I'm surprised Red came back after losing Werenski and the CCM line.

They've had crap goaltending for way too long and they are typically thin on defense. They could always pull in quality forwards though.
