So you spent five figures just to go on a norovirus cruise just to see the locks?
Gee, if only there was another way to see boats going through the locks....
Oh yeah, the U&L has one:

Crittenden Locks in Ballard (Seattle).
But I guess that's the best one can expect out of people from flyover states...

Sad but typical response from you.
I have seen the lock in Seattle. No where near as impressive as the ones in Panama. But of course you wouldn't know that.
Sorry to let you know Norovirus didn't make an appearance. Then again we tend to wash our hands so not much worry anyway. One senior citizen did get taken off the boat in Aruba via stretcher. Rumor had it dude had cardio issues and needed more critical care than the ship could provide.

Went through the Panama Canal when I was 12 years old. (That's right, Lardspray, it was the grand opening.) Very impressive. I was on a ship that was later reflagged as the Achille Lauro.

Great PET. Were you able to see Panama City? I heard it's pretty cool.

Yeah saw a good bit of Panama City. Had dinner there and walked around the beach area. Huge difference between the waterfront which might as well be Miami or Ft Lauderdale what with all the high rise buildings on the beach. Then the poorer areas are total slums and not a place anyone would choose to spend any time. Then there is the former Canal Zone which the American controlled and lived in when we owned the thing. Huge old homes with amazing lawns and gardens.

My brother got to take a cruise through it once, courtesy of the US Navy. He said it was pretty cool. He was on some little spy barge that spent many months floating off the coast of some Central American shithole or another. Forget the name of it, but it was very small and old. Same type of tub the NoKos pirated from us during 'nam. Said it was a pretty good gig. They spent a hel of a lot of time fishing for dinner off the fantail. I never got to do that on the JFK. Carriers kinda suck as fishing boats.
