Is the water warm or cold? Is it public access?
I'm not really a beach person. What else is ghete to do out there? How much does it cost to learn to surf? Is there snorkling? Islands? Museums? Trails?

I hate to say it but the Newport Beach Police are total dikkks because they protect the rich beach people. They know who belongs there and who doesn't belong there. I'm afraid you would be arrested on sight. They even harassed me and I'm White.

This actually happened to me night running in Newport Beach.
Still...a small price to pay to live in the best part of America.

Screw, the mods are welcome to merge the threads. Thank you.
Pickle, that clip doesn't make sense. All Alan had to do was comply. Instead, he did everything in his power to disobey and disrespect those in authority (literally) above him. By countering law enforcement, he not only disobeyed lawful commands but tried to assert authority over them by giving them counter commands. Unlike the lawyers who put out the know your rights videos, Alan courted a justified jailing.
If a black man were presented in the same scenario there would be no laugh track.
Why were you confronted on the beach? I hope you had more sense (and legal standing) than Alan.
You still want to live there in spite of not having fuck you money? What exactly is there that you aren't discouraged from enjoying?

I ran along the boardwalk and the beach many times at night...usually around 8-9 pm. On at least three occasions the Newport Beach Police stopped me and asked me what I was doing that time of night. I was the most All American clean cut kid in America and I still got stopped. One night I was arrested for trespassing and spent the night in the Newport Beach Jail with a bunch of surfer dudes. Every black person that I've ever talked to about Newport Beach police told me they were stopped too.

How can someone trespass on a public beach? Your money paid for it, how can they keep you out? Did you ever find out who narced you all out?
How would you keep them from arresting you this time, 35 years later?

I was on the rooftop of my old apartment building. Since I didn't live there anymore I was arrested for trespassing. I should have run.

Well obviously there's a difference between taking a walk at 8pm and enjoying the sky on a rooftop. So roll with it. Why were you on the roof? what were the surfers in jail like? and why did you leave Newport for good?

If you want to go to Newport, RI, the cliffwalk is nice. Well, nice in about 4 months. It is the fukking suck right about now. Brick Alley Pub has nachos that are to die for.

It would be nice if he walked off the cliff.

I'd never heard of the Cliff Walk, Smackaholic. It looks like a permanent Luminaria tour sin Luminaria, or one of those real estate tours for us poors without being able to actually go into all of the old mansions.
Four months from now, you're probably right. I imagine it is drop dead gorgeous in springtime.
I guess Cliff Walk is what Newport Beach, CA is striving to avoid through misusing the cops.
I don't drink. How's Brick Alley's homemade cream ale?
