You do understand that reservoirs do nothing for the drought when rain isn't coming down, don't you?Rooster wrote:Huh. If only Cal had the foresight to make about 1000 more reservoirs about ten years ago. All that water going to waste...

Do you understand the concept of "gravity" (I'm not talking about the opposite of comedy, BTW)? Maybe you should get with poptart on this.Innocent Bystander wrote:California steals water from the rest of the nation.
You do like having affordable fresh produce all year around, don't you?Innocent Bystander wrote:Rooster, don't let them get to you. California steals water from the rest of the nation. All that X largest economy talk is as hogwash as Texas'. What happens when the aid is cut off? Live on the ocean and have to have useable water piped in from the interior instead of desalinating your own, folks.
They've been doing the spiritual equivalent of relying on strategic pools in other peoples' backyards for decades now. So fuck that sanctuary state.

The whole fukking idea of a reservoir is to catch water when it falls. The larger/more numerous you make them, the less they have to steal water from you U&Lers when it doesn't fall. This really is a fairly simple concept.Diego in Seattle wrote:You do understand that reservoirs do nothing for the drought when rain isn't coming down, don't you?Rooster wrote:Huh. Sooooo... now that the rain is here and there are no additional reservoirs built to capture all this tasty water, California should just shrug their shoulders and tell themselves, "Well, maybe next time,"? If we take your logic to its' natural conclusion, reservoirs do nothing for the state's citizens. Therefore, they should dismantle them and use those great big bowls to make the world's largest skate parks, yes?Diego in Seattle wrote:You do understand that reservoirs do nothing for the drought when rain isn't coming down, don't you?Rooster wrote:Huh. On a grander scale? Yes.Mikey wrote:But if we just bought a few thousand of these and put them in strategic places around the state, we'd be able to ride out even the worst droughts.
1. Actually the whole fukking idea of a reservoir is to catch watersmackaholic wrote:The whole fukking idea of a reservoir is to catch water when it fall. More like fairly simple mind.fairly simple concept.
You obviously don't understand what a reservoir does. Not too surprising.Rooster wrote:Sooooo... now that the rain is here and there are no additional reservoirs built to capture all this tasty water, California should just shrug their shoulders and tell themselves, "Well, maybe next time,"? If collecting water is a fool's errand, then why have any reservoirs at all?

The only one Cali is "stealing" water from is Mexico. California does get a good chunk of water from the Upper Klamath Basin (which we in the U&L would just as soon not call "U&L" -- banjo-pluckin' motherfucks). But Agency Lake and Upper Klamath Lake (impoundments) keep the Klamath flowing in late summer, and the water gets pumped over the mountains into the Sacramento River (and environmental abomination), to keep the Sac flowing, which if you've ever driven up the northern end of the valley, just about dries up.Mikey wrote:
3. California doesn't get any significant amount of water from the U&L. Virtually all water that originates out of state comes from the Chilly Colorado. Consult a map.
The Lower Klamath Basin isn't in California. It's in Jefferson.Dinsdale wrote:The only one Cali is "stealing" water from is Mexico. Unfortunately for Cali, there's much talk of whacking the Klamath dams, since we'd kind of like our salmon back, you environment-hating fucks. If that happens, California is going to have to build more storage in the Upper Sacramento Valley. Getting water through there in summer is pretty important to the whole country. Pumping it from the Klamath is a lame way to do it.

Sounds like an opportune time to have a frank conversation about sanctuary cities.Moving Sale wrote:How else are we supposed to get all that extra money we send to DC and never get back?

So you think environmental groups should be listened to eh?Dinsdale wrote:Moving Sale wrote:He asked the Orange pedobear to declare a state of emergency last Friday. Ball is in your court you fat stupid drunken tard.
Aaaaaaaand, it turns out they've known about the failing spillway for TWELVE FREAKING YEARS.
Sounds reasonable -- spend all the money on illegals, and all order of stupidity, and wait for it to fail, then beg all the other states to pay for the damage.
