This is ACA rev. 2. It won't go anywhere. The republicans with testicles won't vote for it. The dems won't because, well, they won't vote for anything republican at this point, however if they were smart, they would jump on this as it is as close to ACA.1 as they'll get.

So long as "pre-existing conditions" is part of it, it can not work.

Insurance by definition can not work that way. Insurance is hedging your bets for the future. What would your car insurance cost if it had a pre-existing condition clause?

Uhhh, hi, is this Allstate? I kind of wrapped my F150 around a tree last night, driving home from the strip club. Can I have collision added to my policy?

"Click"

Hello? Allstate dude? Are you there?

There is a way to deal with this.

Make legit pre-existing conditions covered under medicare.

So long as young people have the ability to insure themselves after a medical issue develops, they'd be stupid to pay extremely high premiums for high deductible shit policies. The only solution is to make it in their interest to insure themselves. You do this by first off, making limited low cost policies available and secondly, by letting them know that not doing it could have financial consequences down the road.

Oh, and you 24 year old losers living in the basement working part time at Burger King, still on Dad's coverage, yeah, maybe you should stop being a fukking loser.

No buying insurance across state lines? Imagine that with car insurance. I thought it was an important part of a plan to create more competition.

Insurance is a heavily regulated industry. Each state's regulations are different. You typically can only buy car insurance in the state where the car is registered.

Who knew that auto insurance could be so complicated?

There is very little difference between gambling and insurance.

Except that with insurance you win when you lose, especially life insurance.

So you don't win because you have already lost. Sounds like the worst bet ever. What kind of dumb do you have to be to think that is a good idea?

Better yet, make it all covered with medicare. Then negotiate the fuck out of drug prices and start saving real money.

Single payer, in other words?

I must admit, at this point, it would be better than the clusterfukk we have, but, I would still prefer we get back towards a system of fee for service, paid in full by the patient with insurance used as insurance was designed to be used, for unforeseen catastrophic events. The only subsidies for poor folks could be gov run clinics. They would be barebones, immune from malpractice claims and largely staffed by students/docs who received educational assistance from government for med school. They could use the military medical system as a model.

Better yet, every U. S. citizen gets the same coverage as members of Congress.

Congress needs to up the Federal options first then. Their plan isn't all that great. A number of them even decline coverage and are covered under their spouse's plan.

And the same pay while we're at it. Pass a law saying everyone gets 175K a year and we're all good, right? Well, except for 88 and lefty. Not sure they could scrape by on that.

http://www.factcheck.org/2009/08/health ... -congress/

Up thru 2014 Congress had the same plan options as other Federal employees. No special Congress Plan. Then under Obamacare they could purchase thru the exchanges.

Hence members getting insurance thru their spouse.

Congratulations to the GOP on their tremendously beautiful AHCA that promised better, cheaper healthcare for everybody, with even a reduced deficit.

To tell you the truth I didn't think you could do it, but you really came through.

I like the "pre-existing" thing. Imagine going into an insurance office after your car has been wrecked and asking for a policy to cover it. 88 is correct---it is just welfare with a different book cover.

They don't have insurance now, you dumbfukk. They have sky high premiums and deductibles they'll never meet short of a major illness.

I am actually all for high deductibles and paying for most stuff out of pocket. Such policies used to be affordable before the gubmint jumped in and fukked it all up.

It isn't insurance. It is welfare.

It's not insurance when it is mandatory, covers pre-existing conditions, and penalizes you if you don't purchase it. The proper term would be enforced across-the-board cost distribution. It presupposes that the government knows better than you as to your finances, desires, and life choices. It makes me pay for your smoking, excessive drinking, poor judgement, lack of exercise, and lousy decision to produce offspring from a genetically flawed pairing.
