I would pay every penny in my bank account to be at Rorke's Drift.

FIRE!
FIRE!
FIRE!

Sweet Jesus...what a glorious feeling!
FIRE!
FIRE!
FIRE!

I had multiple orgasms from about 2:50 to 4:00

Waves of sweaty, shirtless balck dudes charging at you with something long and stiff in their hands?

Stan, it's okay. Be who you were meant to be. Stop torturing yourself.

I know it's not terribly roomy, but what's Diego payin' to live in your dome?

Smackie, are you planning a Tune Town Purim Special? Let my people rock. Image

Wolfman shoulda done the Purim special last night. I didn't tune in so I'm not sure if he read the Megillah. I may shake a grogger next week if you drop by. Usually don't have too many Hebes tune in, though.

I was expecting a different "Immigrant Song" from you, Bri...

Still, thanks for the old-shule joint. Peace out, bro.

Seeing as how Wolfie is old enough to have been issued an AARP card in it's original stone tablet form, you're more right than you know.

I don't get this thread. Pickle, why do you hate Diego? It's just politics. Nothing to burn yourself out over.

Have a strong cup of coffee and one of those big round coffee cake things y'all do well in Wiscy. Listen to some New Wave. And relax. Diego is cool.

What else is going on with you?

This isn't the only one.

I agree, Goober.

So I'm going to ask you a point blank question: do you respect me?

I have to laugh, because in the firing squad scene right before it cycles back to the beginning there is an adobe Catholic mission chapel in the lower left corner of the frame. Who knew that Zulus were swarming the Southwestern US?

It's a message board. Respect doesn't enter into it.

Meaning, you don't. Maybe you're the right person to ask after all: how did you fare under female supervisors? and what could those female supervisors have done differently/better to earn your respect in the workplace?

Meaning I don't respect or disrespect internet personas. I assume that a lot of them are quite different from the real person. I respect or disrespect real people.

The two best supervisors I have ever had were both female. I had much respect and affection for both of them.

I have to think on the first one, after the Vogle saga.

But to the core: What did they do differently that placed them above your other supervisors while working under them?

The "Vogel saga"? It was just another lameass poptart troll. Hardly a saga. I mean what's to think about. Do you watch SpongeBob Squarepants and ponder whether you should respect Patrick?

I probably would.

I'd rather do a good job, than a poor job. I'd also rather be on top of things than sabotaged. I don't have a lot of experience. I've been reading several articles, but most don't deal with gender or cultural barrier differences.

Trying to observe in the wild is bewildering because what the brass and grunts hate each other, the amount of advantage taking on both sides is not good, and morale can swing wildly by the addition or subtraction of a single person.

There are also unique cultural considerations to take into account which have led to perpetual retention issues across the board, regardless of industry.

You don't sugarcoat. Your input is important to me. What have your female supervisors done differently to successfully lead, and curtail resistence?

They cared about their people on a personal level. They would do anything they could to help those people improve and advance. They not only told you the what, they also explained the why. Their door was always open.

They trusted their people to do a full week's work for a full week's pay, and to produce quality work. Do that and they always had your back. They were both very bright and well-organized, maintained a positive attitude at all times, and were very personable. An absolute pleasure to work with. There was nothing I ever felt the slightest inclination to resist.

One them manages a different group now, but she's still on my floor and I stop in and talk to her from time to time. I worked for her for 3-4 years. And wish I still did.

I worked for the other lady for about 10 years. She retired 5 years ago at the age of 57. Less than a year later she passed away. I still can't think of her without getting incredibly sad.
