All three should not receive a single federal dollar. I listen to NPR on occasion. If I want to keep listening I should offer up a few bucks. Same for the other two. Granted the last thing I watched on PBS was a white guy with an Afro painting happy mountains and trees while he whispered to us.

Absolutely right. We also shouldn't be funding any scientific research, weather data collection, clean air, clean water or diplomacy.

Bob Ross was fun to watch.
Don't worry, Mikey, that clean air and water will still be asfilthy clean as it was when Obama's EPA was spilling contaminated water ensuring that the SW's river water was as pristine as it possibly could be. And with Mike Obama no longer flying all over the world putting carbon into the atmosphere so she can go on multiple taxpayer funded vacations with her mom and kids, that precious air you breathe will be cleaner too! Hooray for political hypocrisy choice!

And how much are we paying for renting a floor in Trump's own building to provide USSS protection to his wife? How much are we paying for her flying to DC from NY? How much carbon is Trump putting in the air with nearly weekly trips to FL? That's a travel ban we really need...Rooster wrote:And with Mike Obama no longer flying all over the world putting carbon into the atmosphere so she can go on multiple taxpayer funded vacations with her mom and kids, that precious air you breathe will be cleaner too! I'm quite certain that the short hops from NYC to Wash D.C. doesn't even come close to those global all expenses paid wing-dings that the Wookiee regularly took to drum up global interest in ObamaLunches and free cell phones in terms of cost, carbon emissions, and traffic snarls. And while I don't know how many personal servants Mrs. Trump has, I suspect that it doesn't come anywhere close to the 28 personal servants, errr, staff Mike needed to... do whatever it was she did as FLOTUS.Diego in Seattle wrote:And how much are we paying for renting a floor in Trump's own building to provide USSS protection to his wife? But keep going with this, since your personal hatred for all things Obama is all you have.

I found a video that illustrates Republican economic policy.

I remember those days when young kids were retarded because they didn't have Sesame Street on TV. History is full of the stories of old people starving to death because there was no Meals on Wheels. Single women with children died by the thousands due to lack of programs like WIC. Trump wants to return to those days. We should all cut big checks to the IRS to fund these programs.
How's that for sarcasm?

Has anyone told SCROTUS that Meals on Wheels isn't a bunch of taco trucks going around?

Sad if it goes, used to contribute to the Buffalo AM station. Then the switch came to FM, so no signal across the lake.
The daytime radio always seemed fairly analytical rather than bias. PBS World is unwatchable.
It did get confusing, I always thought it was a rigid format like CBC or BBC, but the vendors select programming from a catalogue. What they do with what they have puts CBC and BBC to shame, credit to them for that.

Individual stations also create their own content on occasion. For example, the local Rochester PBS station has a talk show about local politics.

This is something I actually agree with you on. The difference is that I will call out Republican and Democrat presidents alike on it.Diego in Seattle wrote:And how much are we paying for renting a floor in Trump's own building to provide USSS protection to his wife? The POTUS is given some pretty nice digs in DC, along with a nice little country estate that is a short relatively cheap chopper ride away. If he wants to keep a residence elsewhere, it should be on his dime. Presidential travel should be limited. Occasional international boondoggles are sometimes in the interest of the United States and understadable. Flying all over the US for nothing other than PR should be shutdown. We are fukking broke. Let's start acting like it.
And to anyone that wants to point out that this is a miniscule amount of the fed budget, I don't give a fukk. It's called leading by example.

Also on the chopping block is the Essential Air Service. This pays airlines to operate flights to small and or underserved airports. Congress has kept this alive for decades as they don't want to cut service to their district.
There are a ton of issues with this program. For one it only pays if airlines operate a flight. So if no one is booked the airline will still fly the route with an empty plane to collect the money from the Feds. Further, the program supports flights at Lancaster PA which is 34 miles from Harrisburg airport which gets no subsidies for flights. People in Lancaster really can't drive 30 minutes?
It is time for this program to die. Alaska prolly really needs this, but the state should pick up the funding on it.

I didn't know that Steve Inskeep was a DJ. When I hear him he's usually reading the news, and I pretty much agree with your review of his delivery in that regard.

Re: Now he's going to kill Big Bird
I'd imagine so, Rochester is just out of range for me. NPR and PBS Buffalo has a massive market in the GTA and Golden Horseshoe so they avoid local stuff. Stuck up a free-to-air antenna and scored, I've got it aimed halfway between the CN Tower and Grand Island NY, so can get just about anything except Rochester. It varies, I've seen PBS Detroit in Bruce/Grey. The size of the market affects the variety and quality I've foundBSmack wrote:Individual stations also create their own content on occasion. Shame about the FM switch but it was out of their hands, a lot of good stuff.
