What do you figure the tickets will cost?

6 iconic bands from the 70s, two nights. Dodger Stadium and Citi Field.
I will set the over under for cheap seat at two fitty. I did not look the price up, so for those of you that did, feel free to STFU and at least pretend you didn't and make a guess.
I suspect when the shows sell out, we'll see them add a few more cities. That should be a pretty nice payday. I am sure they'll be able to pack both places to the rafters.
Yeah, I know, neither place technically has rafters, but, if they did......

I might actually consider going to the citi field show, if anyone is interested in a Big Apple troll stop.

So, they take the band members that are still alive, and roll them out of the nursing home to take the stage?
I'll take the cover band at the local bar over that, thanks.

Saw Chicago/REO a few years ago and it was a very good show. Of course, the REO guitar player prolly wouldn't be up to another as he is still dead, AFAIK. It would be kind of fun to see that little flip dude that sounds more like Steve Perry than Steve Perry does.
The only problem with seeing Journey/FM is that all they'd play all their newer more faggoty stuff for all the drunk 55 year old women in the crowd. I would like to see the Doobs, EWF and SD though. Saw the Eagles about 22 years ago. It was a pretty good show.

I'm guessing some night a T1B DJ could do the "classic" and you can listen for free at home with your favorite beverage and grub. Hell, they might even take requests before the program airs.

Eagles - No Glenn Frey
EW&F - No Maurice White
Me - no dice

Is Maurice White dead?
That might detract a bit from their performance.

Papa Willie wrote:The Eagles without Frey? Sure he was a prick, but c'mon, man. I watched a FM concert on TV a while back, and it was painfully boring. Would love to see Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers. Never cared for Journey. EW&F - meh.
Nah. Sounds like they're trying to re-create Cal Jam I - without Purple, Sabbath & ELP. That won't work.
I've seen Steely Dan maybe half a dozen times in the past 10 years, and follow their schedule every summer. They're playing a three week run at the Venetian in Vegas in April with a couple of breaks to play at Humphrey's in San Diego and the Santa Barbara Bowl. I've seen them twice at Humphrey's but I'm through with Humphrey's. Their lawn chairs are too small and packed in and they're getting $185 a ticket for SD this time around. For the price of two seats at Humphrey's a couple of years ago I saw them at a nicer venue in Paso Robles and had enough $$ left over for a hotel room and a weekend of wine tasting.
Seriously one of the best touring bands out there, though. Keith Carlock on drums and Jon Herington on guitar in particular. Also Carolyn Leonhart (her brother is the trumpet player).
I hear the Doobies are still pretty good. The rest...meh. Lindsey Buckingham is a seriously good guitar player but Stevie Nicks's act jumped the shark years ago.

I don't care much for any of those bands except for Earth, Wind, and Fire. I've always had a soft spot for 1970s bands that played funk and soul like EWF, Ohio Players, and Parliament/George Clinton. But I can definitely say I detest Steely Dan and bands like Chicago with their jazz sounds. Ugh.

Yes, some folks are smart enough to know how to use the sub-forums. If you're going to start all of your shit threads in one forum, try the one at the very bottom of the main page.

How can you like EWF, but not Chicago. Yeah, EWF is funkier and balcker but beyond that, they are quite similar styles.

Now that makes a lot of sense.
Unless, of course, you've ever actually listened to either band's music.

Chicago stopped doing jazz-rock in the late 70's when Terry Kath blew his brains out. They probably achieved greater commercial success with their subsequent move to pop music.

And about 15 minutes in a forum visited by roughly 3.7 people/week is about the weakest GD flag I've ever seen thrown. Shame on you.

BTW, how does one post a link with a customized title? Been wondering that for a while seeing as my HTML skillz are worse than my landscaping.

Even their jazz-rock was nothing like EWF. Except that both bands had horns, guitars, keyboards and drums.

Yes, I know. I saw Chicago live a year or so ago. Actually a pretty decent show.

I was bigly into Chicago in the 70s, especially their first two or five albums. Saw them back then a couple of times, but not since.

Agreed. I was talking about the good, if less commercially successful Terry Kath Chicago. What a shame dude did not understand how semi-auto pistols work. He was a monster guitar player. Hendrix said Kath blew him away.
Mikey, I disagree. Both were extremely talented rock bands with horn sections and jazz influence. EWF certainly did have a more funky sound whereas Chicago leaned more in the prog-rock direction. In the end, I think it is more a case of people looking at one as a "balck group" and the others as honkeys.
They toured together last year. Unfortunately, I missed it.

I'll bet the prune juice cocktails alone will run north of $15.

You can't go wrong with The Doobie Bros. I see them every year, and they just keep getting better. Skynyrd is pretty solid, and ZZ Top is all original members. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are probably the best out there.
I am not one to pinch about one singer or band member since there are some groups that are still fairly original. There will be less and less original members since they are aging and dying off. Shame we are losing a lot of good music.
Did run into some pretty good rock and roll on Music Roll in Nashville in February. Worth a trip.

Got tickets for the Doobies in Paso Robles in August. My brother and his OL are coming down from the Sacramento area to meet us there for the show and probably a fair amount of wine drinking. Should be a good time.
I'd like to see ZZ Top - one band I've never had the pleasure to see live. Billy Gibbons sat in on a couple of songs with Jeff Beck when we saw him last year. Beck is another act who's still definitely worth catching if you have the chance.
