Never done that. Never been on any kind of cruise, and I think that's actually in the Southern Caribbean.

Looks like a lot of blues going on there. Might be cool, and it might be overdose. I know the wife would never go for it.

Some people really like going out on a cruise ship, but I'm just not ready to be packed in with a bunch of smelly drunk tourists.

Actually, I did go on a cruise once in the BVI, but not on a cruise ship. I went with my parents on a "barefoot charter" when I was in my early 20s, where we rented a 46 foot sailboat, with a captain, and sailed around BVI for 10 days. Just about the best vacation I ever had. The captain knew lots of cool places to go, generally avoiding most of the places where the big ships would let hundreds of tourists off at the same time. Got some pretty awesome snorkeling in.

Sounds like a shit ton of good blues. Not much of a cruise fan, but I would do it for the music.

I saw some yt videos of that kingfish kid. Morbidly obese balck teenager from Mississippi can play the fuck outta the blues.

First off, Kingfish is fairly new to me. And he's fucking awesome.

Next, to tie this shit together, this clip:

... is from the Waterfront Blues Festival a couple of weeks ago, which I've been touting until I'm blue in the face for years in the Music Forum. You folks who enjoy such things should really make a vacation out of it (sup Sam).

Kingfish also did the Blues Cruise -- after the festival ends nightly, some of the featured artists jump on the Portland Spirit and do a set, which is a mini cruise ship that goes up and down the river Downtown. And I think it's only around 40-50 bucks to get aboard (but I'm sure drinks/food are a strokejob).

So, essentially, it pretty much clowns this "Left Coast Cruise." This city has become a bunch of fuckups, but for music festivals, they have this fucker dialed in after 30 years.

And if you've never checked out the March Fourth Marching Band, they're something else.

It is damn nice to see a balck kid pick up the genre his grandfathers invented and pretty much pwned until those pasty limeys adopted it back in the 60s.

If there is a criticism I can come up with, it would be that at times he goes a little too yngwie malmsteen shred monster. He needs to just chill and listen to some more Albert King. Slow down. 1 properly bent note is better than 10,000 shred notes.

Gotta admit though, that fat bastard can shred like a mutherfukka.

The Hey Joe is thoroughly tedious with no nuance or harmonic interest, and that tone is just painful. The Thrill is Gone sounds better.

Seems like it might be fun with a bunch of bands to listen to, but being trapped on a ship with a buncha strangers doesn't appeal to me.
What ?? You don't want to get in a captive petri dish with 3000 other people and enjoy a run of norovirus ??

I have never done a cruise, probably never will the wife hates them, but if I did it would have to be that Southern rock cruise with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Partying with those dudes for a week would not suck.

LOL...sort of hard going after pussy when you're traveling with your parents.

Actually, the captain was a local who had also been a professional spear fisherman. He caught us some good dinners and put me onto some great snorkeling locations, including an area that was crawling with conch about 15 feet down on a sandy bottom. I think I pulled up at least a dozen and we had fried conch, raw conch, steamed conch for a couple of days.

Do it. You will love the cruise and these ports. (except La Paz, don't bother going into town, just take a walk off the ship and walk back on.)

I've been on several cruises and Mexico cruise about 5 times if you have questions!

There is nothing better than being on the big blue ocean, in my opinion.

I don't know. It might.

Hell dude, partying at our age is a relative term and kind of age specific thing anyway. Couple of drinks, couple of tokes and the midnight buffet and we are all done for the night.

I've never been to this one. They've only been doing it for a few years. It's in a suburb of Portland, and the crazy thing about it... it's pretty much in a dude's giant backyard.

I hear it's quite the party.

It would be worth going just to check out Huun Huur Tu.
