Hell no. But then again I am not some millennial that needs safe rooms on campus to hide from the evils of social media.

Who raised the millennials to be this way?

New age helicopter parents that pushed fair fun positive soccer where no score is kept and everyone gets a trophy along with liberal college professors and administrators who told them not all speech is free. Competition, winning and losing, and debate are all foreign concepts to them.

Those new-age helicopter parents were from what generation?

Wrong again. It is a straw man argument. Did the WWII vets raise their kids to be dope smoking draft dogers? Hell no they didn't.

Poor snowflakes are a product of a mindset that crosses multiple generations.

If they were helicopter parents, then they ignored the first limit indicator and got an exceedance requiring an entire parenting overhaul.

You're looking at the wrong side of things. Intent means nothing, results are what you should be looking at. How you parent has an impact on results, often in an equal and opposite manner. So if you are an overbearing hardass, your kid might just become anti-authoritarian. If you handle every thing for your child and never let him fail, he might have fuck all of a clue when he hits the real world.

True.

So what you are really saying is I can expect a call from the Mom or our new hire bookkeeper shortly? Out freaking standing! Can't wait to ask her a few questions about her kid and where her lack of motivation and work ethic came from.

The "participation trophy" thing is so played. I got them when I played Little League. My father got them and he's older than most in here. They've been around for decades. The difference is, back in the day people didn't bitch and moan about inconsequential shit all the time. But now people with cush lives have to manufacture things to get mad about. Buck up, snowflakes. Find something worthwhile to pour your whining into. Complaining about issues that don't actually exist and have no impact on your life is the REAL "Pussification of America."

You should have hired an older person.

Which she will no doubt lay at the feet of her baby boomer parents who fucked all this shit up in the first place. It is all their fault, the millennial generation is not a product of societal impacts and influence. Just go ahead and start running that help wanted add again, because the little darling probably won't last 4 months anyway.

The wife fired a community service worker for stealing Top Ramen out of the lunch room. Her boyfriend and his boss came to talk about it. Told them to take a fuckin hike and get their drunk asses out of there.

Reverse age discrimination. With millennials being 50% of the work force, this shit is going to get worse and never get better. There are signs all over town, on vehicles, on line, " Help wanted" $ 18 to $ 20 to start. I need a week off next month for a pre existing vacation I have coming, I can't get child care today. Yet there are all kinds of able bodied fucks walking around town all day, all kinds of dudes slinging dope in the trailer parks.

My son in law runs a logging outfit. Has 2 sites going. Has two Hispanic families working for him making 20 to $ 23. Got rid of all the worthless drunk white fucks, including some of his friends. His production is up and headaches are down. These guys bust their ass and don't break shit. Dins may weight in on this, but if you had told me that one day that the Northwest logging crews would be all Hispanic I would have said bullshit. But as all the old guard like myself has got out of the workforce, the millennials have no interest in that hard of work and getting up at 3 am.

I run pilot car for them and these guys impress me with their work ethic.

Broad generalization here, but...

A lot of the crowd who bitches about the "pussification of America" are folks who voted for this current orange douchebag who happens to be one of the biggest pussies in recent memory.

$20 to $23 a hour to log? That seems like it is pretty low. Hell, we have a gas station chain here called BUC-EE'S that is paying entry level cashiers $15 an hour with no experience. Grant they make money hand over fist as some of their stores along the interstates have 100 plus pumps. But the real reason they are so successful is they have clean bathrooms. Women will hold it for an hour just to stop there because they know it will be clean.

Pretty sure Mark Bolan's family is really wishing he was still a glam rocker in the early 80's.

Left Seater wrote:$20 to $23 a hour to log? That seems like it is pretty low.
The history of logging in the PNW has a lot of different angles. People that worked for the large companies (Weyerhauser, etc)when timber was plentiful could expect lifetime employment with a living wage. Those companies petered out over the years and there is just a few private landowners now, who have their own mills and use gypo independent logging companies. Very little state timber and no Federal timber at all anymore. These companies paid low wages but had steady work. In return they got guys who would show up to meet the crummy at 3 am, no matter how hung over they were, since they usually started drinking in the crummy on the ride home in the afternoon, and were usually passed out by 8 pm. Every. Day. These guys would work for $ 15 their entire careers, and $ 16 was top wages for a logger or truck driver.

Now since the old guys are aging out of the woods, and you can only use so many truck drivers, the millennials have absolutely no interest in climbing up and down hills, hooking chokers, or cutting limbs, or getting up at 3 am to go to work. Not for $ 23 per hour, not for $ 30 per hour. Enter the Hispanic workforce. My son in law by attrition got rid of his worthless white guys who had a hard time showing up, even on the rare occasion they were sober. He did not care if they smoked dope, finding a white logger who did not was rare. The Hispanics took over. The " Uncle" the oldest most experienced got his own crew. All family. My son in law gave them a nice pickup to drive, gas cards and they get themselves 65 miles each way to work every day, they check the oil in the engines, they show up every day and will work Saturdays if needed. They have made my son in laws life a lot easier and he takes care of them. I take orders from the Uncle when we move equipment and he knows his shit.

My farmer buddy farms 3500 acres and pays his help $ 20 per hour. 10 years ago this was a $ 10 job. The low end job market is very interesting and with Oregon requiring $ 15 per hour minimum wage by 2019 things will be very interesting.
