Willie Taggart is a machine. I hope he can coach as well as he recruits. And that ranking doesn't count Talanoa Hufanga (5 star) and Chase Cota(4 star), who are locks.

I see USC's highest ranked recruit for 2018 so far is from... Nevada. I assume Schmick strongly disapproves of this.

It's nice having a proactive coach for a change. Chip Kelley's recruiting consisted of paying guys money, and Helfrich (great X and O's guy) made a few phone calls.

Bellotti was decent, but the program wasn't quite as high-profile in his day.

I have a hunch Bama might land a couple of 4 and 5 star kids in the next year.

Stanford isn't even in the top 50.
If things go as usual they'll pick up the pace later on and end up with a small class of pretty high quality players.

And his hires of Leavitt and Cristobal were awesome.

I really wish more effort on a National Level was put into recruiting rankings 5 years after signing day. Granted Bama would dominate, but really the recruiting rankings that matter are 5 years later.

That said, might as well be at the top of as many of these lists as you can.

The rankings give us something to either cheer about, or bitch about in the off-season.

In reality, how many of these 4 and 5 star guys are going to have any meaningful impact as freshmen, regardless of team? I think most teams would jump for joy if 2 of them did.

Then again, Oregon's best defensive player last year was a true freshman... and they gave up like 40 a game. Nowhere to go from there but up.

I always crack up when the pre-season polls start coming out, and a lot of the sprotswriters can be counted on to claim that they hate pre-season polls and that they shouldn't exist because they're biased and stuff..

...and then follow with 10 paragraphs about how their rankings would look.

It is an easy page fill Mikey. Lazy is lazy.

Granted I am one that thinks polls in the first half of the season are worthless, and therefore I don't post my own much less think about rankings. But as you say the same can't be said of sportswriters.

Other side of the coin... WTF else is a BTPCFB writer supposed to do in August? It's their job.

so now only kids who live in said state should play for said state college or private high school...do I have that right?

SO you're saying that ALL the kids on the Bishop Gorman roster are from OOS? I call bullshit...come on do a better job than that fucko...

Yeah never mind SC often has 25-30 players on the roster from outside of CA.
