Pre-season polls are, of course, useless, speculative, biased and completely meaningless.

But...good fodder for discussion.

'Bama, as per usualm comes in at #1 but the only SEC team in the top 10.
Top 10 is 40% B1G, though.

  • 1 Alabama (49)
    2 Ohio State (5)
    3 Florida State (4)
    4 USC
    5 Clemson (7)
    6 Penn State
    7 Washington
    8 Oklahoma
    9 Michigan
    10 Wisconsin
    11 Oklahoma State
    12 LSU
    13 Auburn
    14 Stanford
    15 Georgia
    16 Florida
    17 Louisville

The Top 4 is 40% ACC.

Texas is overrated.

South Florida is underrated, will win a bunch of games but Strong will cause them to lose some they shouldn't.

Math is 90% mental, and the other half comes from Texas.

So, a big name school takes their coach, to a team that has an order of magnitude more talent than USF, and isn't in the Top 25 (nor should they be), and USF is underrated?

That's about 40% logic.

USF will win 10 games despite their coach. They will finish in the top 15 or better. So yeah my guess is they are underrated.

I don't expect Michigan State to crack the top 25 this year at any point. I think they'll be better than last year but probably not by much. There is talent in the starting units on both sides of the ball but the team sorely lacks depth right now. I just hope they can make a bowl.

Is it basketball season yet?

I expect Syracuse to get some votes, mostly from coaches of teams are scheduled to play. They are starting to get some four-star prospects who are at least professing mild interest in the program. This is what we call progress as Orange fans.

i agree that Texas is getting a lot of "benefit of the doubt"....but they should be better. they were "highly regarded" last year after beating Notre Dame. UT will be better....they lost to friggin Kansas last year. took the Jayhawks into OT, though.

lot of variables at play in Dallas for OU-UT.

Agree on the State Fair match-up. Both likely have one loss by then. Two Texas losses is probable and certainly not out of the question for OU.

Records mean jack squat though so it should make for great TV.
