Adios Georgia Dome.

They just whacked it.

25 years old.

WTF?

Oh yeah, because the NFL thought a new crib would be sweet, and why not, when you can get someone else to pay for it?

Wasn't this one of the cool new domes, with skyboxes galore?

Anyone know who paid for it and it's successor? I'll bet it wasn't the NFL. More likely GA taxpayers, with a good chunk of fed dollars which means, the Chinese paid for it and your grand kids own the mortgage.

Is the national debt to 21 trillion yet?

Hey Suckaholic, this is how Georgia taxpayers can afford nice things. They skrimp on education, welfare and all other social programs so when the owners of the Braves and Falcons say they want a new stadium, they have plenty of money to pony up.

It's the GOP way!

Sadly, governments fawning all over pro sport franchises is a bipartisan effort.

BTW, was skrimp a typo or just you being a dumbfukk?

Or both?

I had the same reaction.

Seems like a short shelf life.

Don't worry, pop, I am sure the ATL, Jawjuuh and the NFL did multiple studies explaining how leveling a perfectly good facility saved money and created jobs.

And the new crib prolly has solar panels, so it is good for the environment too.

So spending more money on education will make it better how exactly? Same question for social programs? What exactly is underfunded and what increase in results can be expected with more spending?

There are plenty of studies out there showing a correlation between the size of the principal's beach house and education spending.

If you don't like how Georgia spends their money, then don't move to Georgia.
To bad CT is such a small time minor league shithole that you can't come up with anything "important" to bitch about at home.

At this point I'm thinking that maybe all of the NFL teams should move to LA. Get a few more billionaires to turn gravel quarries and/or Superfund sites into new stadiums in exchange for the glamour of NFL ownership, you could have games all over the LA basin. That would save a lot on travel expenses, though it might affect the market for multi-million dollar homes.

Kinda sad. I saw some damned good games in there. It had plenty of years left, too. When I'd heard that they were going to build the new dome, a lot of us were under the impression that they were going to build it like out in Lawrenceville - or just out of Atlanta. Like dumbasses, they stuck it right where it didn't need to be. That's NOT a good part of downtown ATL...
Well the one thing nice about the football stadium is that it is fully accessible by MARTA. My niece went to the FSU Alabama season opener. She took the train down and took the train back to Chamblee. A whole lot nicer than the Atlanta Braves stadium that is not on any mass transit line and requires acres upon acres of parking facilities.

Normal people who go to the games that don't want to be fucked with by poor, begging liberals.
Should have built it in your neighborhood. Where the fuck do you think they're gonna build mega stadiums? Buckhead? Wealthy neighborhoods?

Not only do you not want a mega stadium in your hood, you can't be bothered to put up with riff raff and the less fortunate to go to one.

Is there anything where you don't act like a pathetic coward?

Well in Oregon we have this pesky little 22 billion dollar unfunded liability in the state pension fund. It owes 22 billion more that it has in assets at this time. The results we could expect with more taxes and spending will be the continuation of ignoring said liability and continuing on has they have for more years. We have lots of retirees who are making 120% or better on retirement, they are depending on our taxes to keep that rate up.

Beggars have become omnipresent.

Pretty fukking sad.

30 years ago, during my first med cruise, I remember walking around around some city in Spain, France, Italy or where ever thinking to myself, wow, they got a lotta fukking beggars here.

Fast forward to today and we have become them. Part of that hope and change dealio, I guess.

It’s called “trickle-down.” Sort of like that warm yellow liquid you keep finding on your pants leg.

In San Diego they put Petco Park in what was a really run down shitty part of downtown. It ended up the centerpiece of the Gaslamp District, which is where most of the nightlife in SD is now.

But don't forget that Atlanta blew a 25 point lead in the Super Bowl.
So how’s that hope and change dealio going?
This must be Making Atlanta Great Again?

It is pretty weird.

I picture of few of our fliends here going off on a vicious political tirade in the drug store when the pharmacist will not fill their viagra prescription.

Their limp dick must be the R's/D's fault.

Seems to me, these were two perfectly good examples (construction of new, destruction of old) of how the taxpayer’s dollar can stimulate jobs and opportunity for the working class.

Shouldnt you leftists be propping up the interests of construction and demolition workers? FDR would be so disappointed in you.

Probably after the bus got there.
