A neighbor, Thomas B. Jadlowski, thought he saw a deer in his back yard 200 yards away and fired a single shot. Then he heard a scream. Realizing he’d shot a person, he ran out to help--the bullet had traveled through her hip and out her back. Jadlowski has not been charged and has been cooperating with investigators, officials said. The case will be reviewed by the Chautauqua County district attorney’s office, which will determine whether Jadlowski will face criminal charges. Officials said the shooting occurred less than an hour after sunset, at a time when it’s illegal to hunt

Sheriff Joe Gerace told the Buffalo News that Jadlowski used a single-shot handgun permissible for deer hunting.

He needs to sit in a jail cell for a good spell. Idiot.

There's a lot of idiots out in Western New York tramping around the woods. When I used to deer hunt we went to a place near a State Forest. We were on private land, but you can hear the guys on the state land. It sounded like World War III. I'm not joking when I say that I heard it at least two to three shots every minute for the first day of hunting season. There's no way on Earth that all those guys were shooting at deer.

Whole lotta deer out that way. And just cause they are shooting at them, don't mean they're hitting them.

And because they thought they were deer just doesn't mean that they were deer. I wouldn't be shocked if more than a few turkeys gave their all. Lot of turkeys in those Tamaracks.

I bet a few road signs got mistaken for deer too.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't think this was any sort of mistaken hunting shot. Sounds more like her dogs were off leash, wandered onto his property, he got pissed and fired at them, hitting her by mistake.

He's looking at a 2nd degree Manslaughter rap. Five to fifteen in the hole.
