Super Blue Blood Moon Eclipse - January 31

Skywatchers in Alaska, the Hawaiian islands and the western part of North America will have the best view of the rare "Super Blue Blood Moon" in the early morning of Jan. 31.

This spectacular lunar event features the second full moon of the month, also known as a Blue Moon. The event will coincide with a total lunar eclipse, which is often referred to as a "blood moon" because the moon turns a reddish or copper color when it passes through Earth's shadow.

What's more, the Jan. 31 full moon occurs during perigee — the moon's closest approach to Earth in a single orbit, which means that its diameter will appear about 7 percent larger and 14 percent brighter than usual, making it a supermoon. This is the first time in more than 150 years that the three lunar events will coincide, according to a statement from NASA...

And now the Doomsday Clock has been moved closer to midnight!

OMG!

Image

Concerns about a possible nuclear war and other global threats have pushed forward the symbolic
Doomsday Clock by 30 seconds.

The clock indicates vulnerability to catastrophe from nuclear weapons, climate change and new
technologies.

At two minutes to midnight, the clock is now at its closest to catastrophe since 1953...

The closest it's been since 1953, when Wolfman and Goober were how old??

We're fukked, folks.

I'm calling it now.
Everything is lining up.

The January 31st Blooooo Moon Eclipse is ------> THE END!

I’m not following. My spreadsheet says NASA isn’t to be believed and they fake everything. Yet you are linking us up to NASA regarding this moon event?

1953? I was 14. I was up around 5:45 to take an early morning leak and saw the full moon. No eclipse had begun I guess. I've seen enough of them.

Saw it pretty much in totality during our entire morning walk from 5:00 am until 5:30. The moon wasn't completely dark but just sort of a dull orange.

The iPhone isn't too good with low light images, but here it is...

Too much cloud cover on the west side of the U & L too see anything. I was up about 3 am and it was pretty light, then got much darker. Clouds suck for eclipse viewing.

It was a struggle. Ever since Photobucket went all "for a fee" I haven't posted any pictures. I just now learned how to use imgur.

This really just proves that I actually was up at 5:00 a.m. You can get much better pics on the web.

That's about how my pictures turned out. Should have used my son's SLR.
