This District has some serious issues. Small town mostly minority district which pulls kids in from ranches and farms from a wide area. There is some serious oil money that gives the school top notch facilities, equipment and teacher salaries.

All that cash though isn’t helping things. Many of their teachers are within 4 years of graduating college. They get jobs here and use that for experience. Then they bail to other jobs in cities where dating and mating prospects are infinitely higher.

Many of the students will skip school to work in the local oil field or ranches where even as minors they can earn $35K a year.

As for spanking students, I don’t get it. In this case the parents have to opt in twice before the school can use this so it is all pretty much on the parents anywho. I got plenty of swats as a kid in school but found other punishments more effective.

I've found if you pull a kids (up to 6 or 7 yrs old) pants down, put them over your knee and spank them with your hand, it is quite effective. The embarrassment alone is enough afterwards that just a threat to do so again is usually all that is needed to alleviate most situations.

A wooden paddle might be a little much depending on who's doling out the punishment.
