White House official confirms that President Trump does indeed want a military parade and points to public comments the president has made since returning from Bastille Day celebrations in France expressing his admiration for such parades.
I suppose it makes more sense to say that's modeled after Bastille Day since it would probably look after the Kremlin's May Day parades.
I want a big parade!! And I want a fancy new uniform with lots of gold braid and medals and stuff and I want them all to march right in front of me and give me the high sign and I want it to be on TV and I want to be a general!!!!

Wasn't that the Superbowl? You can't open a kindergarten without some sham servicemen mooching about for attention.
Face it, we all love tracked vehicles towing ICBMs, but Communists do it out of conviction. You do it out of feelings of inadequacy.

At the risk of engaging in some pop psychology, it appears to me that Trump lost some part of himself when he (or his father) took action to avoid service in Vietnam. Having been taught at a military academy, been a fairly successful athlete, admired by his fellow male students for the bevy of beautiful women he took to the various social dances, but then whisked away from any possibility of getting into combat, it seems that he feels like that opportunity to prove himself in that great test* of a young man’s courage and bravery was lost. And he has spent much of his life making up for it ever since.
He refers to the military brass in his administration as “his generals” and appears to have a special reverence for specific men like Mattis who have the reputation for ferocity in combat. It all amounts to hero worship to me.
*The desire to take and pass that “great test” of combat is one in which many young men will intentionally go out of their way is based on any number of reasons. I succumbed to it myself being from family which is long steeped in military tradition and naively wanted to measure myself against the grandfathers, uncles, cousins, and my father who all went to war. Unbeknownst to me at the time, every conflict is utterly different from any other— and even within the same theater of war. Being a helicopter pilot is not analogous to being that crunchie in a foxhole with Panzer tanks rolling overhead. YMMV.

Regarding Dinkie Don's military parade concept, there are two possibilities.
1. He is trolling
2. He actually wants it
Either possibility is troubling, to say the least.

An event to parade requires - an event. History and emotion, it's a propaganda event at heart. The prerequisites seem to be lacking.

The prerequisite event is Don's tiny continuing to sink into his f@t belly.

How can a thread that starts out with a Bastille Day mention in the first post get over twenty posts deep without a Rush reset? Damn, this place has fallen.
