That was the irony of the pic, Rooster.

He was wheel chair bound and stairway is not an escalator so how was he going to make it to heaven in a wheel chair when he doesn't believe in it?

Like any good scientist, he was an atheist. Of course, he would have changed his mind if presented with proofs.

Interesting that upon his passing there's no noting of the astonishing fact that Hawking in fact rescinded his black hole theory which had become canon in the science of physics (just as Noam Chomsky completely abdicated from his (LAD) theory of language acquisition, which had similarly been canon in the field of linguistics).

I have very conflicted feelings regarding this topic.

On the one hand, I agree with every last word he says. IF there is a g0d, he's a monumental douche. On the other hand, there have been many people that have done good in His name and western civilization probably wouldn't exist without this collection of fairy tales. People are self centered assholes and maybe it does take some imaginary old white fukker in a beard to keep us in line.

What separates me from B and most other commies is I am actually OK with religion and religious folks. In fact, I'm a bit jealous of them. I don't see them as competition to the religion of government utopia.

I'm sure that Fry thinks God is a douchebag. Probably blames God for his prostate cancer, his bipolar disorder (and multiple suicide attempts), and, well, this....

I'm fine with religious people up to the moment when they start trying to put their religion into my government. Like you said holic, some people do need the rod and the staff to comfort them. Just don't try to tell me that shit's real.

People should first of all know the source of the misery on earth.

Second, people can find God's grace in the midst of the suffering that man brought to the world.
