...or at least that's what I've named her.

I looked out my window the other day and saw it was raining feathers. Grabbed my camera and caught this pretty girl ruining some poor bastard's day. She perched herself at the end of a dead branch on a tree behind my house... and with one claw, pinned her meal against the branch...and proceeded to tear it to shreds. I picked up one of the feathers that lay surrounding the base of the tree and by the the look of it (long, slender) I'd say it was what was left of a mourning dove or more likely, a spotted woodpecker...

I was only about 20 feet away and fairly conspicuous...but fucks were not being given on her behalf.

I live beside a park on a hill with high maples and birches...they circle the neighbourhood endlessly, especially on sunny days, fucking up the stupid squirrels that are too stupid to find cover.

Birdwatching posts are sure to pick up the traffic in here.

I had a hawk graze at my bird feeder. I know they have to eat too, but not there.

Too bad you didn't get the capture on video. Love watching birds of prey in action. Especially when going after those bushy tailed rats, aka squirrels.

Once saw an owl carrying a rabbit damn near as big as he/she was.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in the hawk population over the last 40 years? Seems like there has been, but it could just be that I notice it more. There is definitely an increase in turkeys. Those fukkers are like pigeons round these parts these days.

A few of the locals have shown kamikaze like behavior at times. Haven't hit one yet. If I ever do and it looks big enough to go through the trouble, I might take a shot at cleaning one and stuffing it in the over. I have also had a yard full of the chicks. I'll bet they'd be good done buffalo wing style.
