Funny, I didn't see the word "gun" anywhere in that article.

Not sure how you can conclude that "Gun bans not working in London."

It's a gun-free country, Mikey, and there are now more murders going on there than in NYC. You can't figure that out?
You seriously can't make that logical conclusion. If they had guns the murder rate might be twice as high.

Or half as many murders. Certainly the fact a home owner might be armed desuades some potential home invaders here in the states.

You're correct, though I doubt you're accurate when it comes to London.

There's no way to say if the gun ban is working or not, based on the number of knife (and other) murders, if you have no baseline gun murder rate to compare to.
I'm really surprised that PW, given the fact that he (claims to have) worked with numbers for years, doesn't get this simple concept.

In the long run, they should be OK in London as long as they don't arm their poets with handguns.

Of course they will. What does that have to do with your premise of "gun bans not working in London?"

I agree that we have no clue if a gun ban is working or not in London. This news should give pause though to groups looking to decimate the 2nd Amendment.

However, prosecuting men who teach their girlfriend’s pug to do a “Nazi salute” is of greater importance than cracking down on no-go zones where Muslims enforced their own law.

So as you can see here, the predominant force behind the move to disarm Americans is...

...DEMOCRATS.

That's right...Democrats. Don't forget, it's the Democrats...nothing else...~cough~...

Hey Fatspray...wanna take another swing at this thread?

Firearms death rates (per 100,000 residents):

Care to explain how "gun bans not working in London" when their firearms death rate is .2 compared to our 10.2?

But how do the overall murder rates compare w/ or without firearms?

Please re-read the topic title.

Of course you read the title literally, but the whole premise of banning firearms is that it makes society safer. That doesn't appear to be the case, and is PWs point.

Your data is awfully broad, much like those other statistics where shootings that occurred near a school counted towards aggregate school shootings. This author discusses the homicide rate versus a generic death rate as you posted.

That article basically confirms my impression that civilian firearm ownership has some benefit in reducing crime and murder. Thanks Rooster.

And when people start getting bludgeoned to death, hammers, irons, etc will be the next things banned.

I found it interesting that London's mayor says there is no reason to carry a knife, yet the murder numbers say otherwise.

In the UK you have the right to defend your family and self with your hands only. And when murders continue by strangulation, UK citizens should use their bare hands to string up the politicians who put the populace at increased risk.

Why don’t they just cut through the bull$hit and ban crime already?
