It was a game the Cavs could have stolen. There were at least six bad calls in that game. But bad calls are part of the game. The NBA is really bad about this sort of thing. You can be assured that calls will go in favor of the Cavs to make sure the series goes 7 games.

I’d still put Jordan up as the best ever. Stats aside, MJ had a style which LBJ doesn’t— the shrug of the shoulders as he jogged back up,the court after scorching the opposition, as if to say, “I don’t know how I do it. Just luck, I guess.” The tongue sticking out as if he were out on the playground playing ball, Jordan looked more at ease even though he was unbelievably competitive.

This doesn’t anything away from Lebron. He’s incredible in his own right, but I don’t think he’s the best, IMHO.

LeBron has four years experience on MJ. He entered the NBA at 18. MJ entered at 22. He's a 33 year old with the experience of a 36 year old, plus he has the body of a 33 year old as opposed to a 36 year old.

Wilt Chamberlain averaged 38 pts a game for his first 9 years in the league.

He led the league in scoring for his first 6 seasons.
He led the league in both rebounding and scoring for his first 4 seasons.

He averaged 50 pts a game one year.
45 was a bad night.

He averaged 23 rebounds a game for his career.

Nobody was going to bully him around.

LeBron can guard far more positions on the floor than MJ could. Imagine MJ guarding Shaq, Duncan, Robinson, Durant, etc. LeBron would do far better. Further LeBron is top 60 all time in rebound while MJ doesn’t make the top 125. Also MJ has more offensive rebounds than does LeBron leading one to believe that MJ put in far more effort on the offensive end trying to score than he did playing defense.

Yes MJ was a great scorer, but he was also a ball hog. LeBron is close to MJ in scoring but is so far beyond MJ in assists it isn’t even funny. LeBron will crack the top 10 of all time in assists early next year. MJ can’t be found in the top 40. But Pippen does make the top 40 of assists, yet none of LeBron’s Cavs teammates do. So LeBron does far more to get his teammates involved in the game.

I'd say that is an advantage for Lebron, who has changed teams several times to increase his chances at a championship. MJ was a greater player because of his drive as pops pointed out. The greatest players make those around them better, like MJ & Magic did. Lebron changing teams so he can join one that is stacked is not a positive in this discussion, even now rumors swirl about where he will be playing next season. I do agree Lebron is a great player, he's just not the pinnacle of NBA greatness.

We all understand that players from different eras cannot be compared apples to apples due to any number of reasons and circumstances, but how about if we change the question just a bit and ask how would all these players from the past stack up against present day professionals if they were given the same training and medical/support staffing?
