Sound like desperate straits, 88. I wasn’t able to tune in to Smackie’s show very often but when I did I always heard a great mix of stuff I knew I liked, but also tunes I’d never heard before. Nice to know you can still learn something.

My suggestion - get a subscription to SiriusXM and stream Tom Petty’s Buried Treasure. He’s dead of course but they still stream something like 10 seasons of archived shows where he DJ’d the Best in Rock Rhythm and Blues. It might help you and the missus to cut back on the blow. Or not.

I guess you can play this on Spotify but his commentary is worth getting on Sirius.

Thanks, 88. Hopefully, the worst of your withdrawals are behind you. I thought about doing a show last Friday, but then something came up that I'll save for another thread.

Actually haven't settled into the desert lifestyle yet. Technically, I'm homeless. The house we just sold closed yesterday, and the house we're buying doesn't close until Tue. I'm typing this from a luxurious Super 8 motel room in Grants, NM, where Jake & I stayed last night. We left Wed afternoon, stayed in Kingsport, TN the first night, Sallisaw, OK Thur night, and here last night. Mama and Dawn (yes, THAT Dawn from TuneTown, who flew to DC from CA to accompany mama on her drive out west) left Fri morning and stayed in Dixon, TN last night. Jake & I plan to visit the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest today before heading to our new hometown.

As far as TuneTown goes, there are options. Since I'm now retired, I could conceivably do shows all the time, during all parts of the day. I could keep it once a week and change the time to one that allows for more listeners who might want to join in (whenever that might be). Or I could close up shop altogether due to lack of listener interest. Any of those options work for me, though the last option is the least preferred.

Hope you're able to find solace in drugs or religion in the meantime. Preferably drugs.

Smackie, I'm happy for your new direction in life and hope it goes well for you. But Friday without TT just isn't the same. Your dulcet tones and amazing set lists brought a lot of smiles and happy toe tapping. Once you get settled, please consider a return. Your show was more appreciated than you imagine.
