Bay Area cities ban employer paid lunches
In a strange move CA cities are banning cafeterias where employers pick up the cost of the food. For new buildings any cafeterias can’t be fully subsidized. This is crazy and puts any company needing a new building at a disadvantage to a company with a building/cafeteria already in place.
When I worked at General Dynamics our cafeteria was heavily subsidized. Given the large campus and the security required to get on campus and then into the building, leaving and returning for lunch within an hour wasn’t feasible. Same for my wife’s place of employment now. Now way 19,000 people can all leave, eat and return to campus in 1
But this is what we get when we have big government.

Why can't you bring your own lunch?
In all seriousness I always wondered why these big defense contractors had such elaborate cafeterias. Now I know.

You seem to have a fixation on the Bay Area. Are you thinking of moving there or is it just some kind of wild sexual hangup?Left Seater wrote:In a strange move CA cities are banning cafeterias where employers pick up the cost of the food. From the article:
Because apparently, it's about what some government leaders want, and not what the people of San Francisco want.
Idiocy.
We want your employees to get out of the office, we want you to support our small businesses, we want you to interact and add to the cultural vibrancy of our city and we want you to make San Francisco that helps the city moving into the future.

More fake news. You would be a good headline writer though. It isn't my fault NoCal is a hotbed of stupid ideas.Mikey wrote: You seem to have a fixation on the Bay Area. Are you thinking of moving there or is it just some kind of wild sexual hangup?

People could bring their own lunch and many did. But when you have to go thru multiple security checks and sometimes a TSA style scan (depending on the location) leaving campus for lunch becomes quite the pain.Screw_Michigan wrote:Why can't you bring your own lunch?

You raise an interesting question though. Given the reasoning by the NoCal cities, bringing your lunch would also undermine the local restaurants. Why not ban bringing one's own lunch in these cities?

The idea is to protect the restaurants in the area who depend on the lunch crowd. But as a totally fake "pilot" toxic fraud, you'd not understand the peculiar politics of S.F. Not that many do. The new unexpected mannish mayor, a black dyke named Breed (how ironic, since she most certainly never will), is a plain proxy for the Chinatown machine (Willie serving as executor for Rose Pak) and will continue the advance of the greatest scam ever...reappraising and wildly increasing the value of properties--so the new taxes can't be afforded and bankruptcy looms. Like Gump's in S.F. today. It's been right there in Union Square since 1861. And of course they own the building. But were they ready for that new appraisal? Nope, they've filed for chapter 11. It's happening all over the country, but most conspicuously here in NoCal...it's insane, like the Tulip run in 17th century Netherlands.
