NFL Hall of Fame

I don't give a rat's ass about the NFL any more, but I was channel-surfing and happened to land on the HOF induction ceremony shortly after Jerry Kramer started his acceptance speech. When he was done, I thought about Terrell Owens, who didn't show up for the ceremony because he felt disrespected for having to wait a couple of years to be inducted. Jerry Kramer should have been inducted 40 years ago and was nothing but gracious and grateful. Rack him.

So, TO being TO, then. Big surprise there.

He certainly had HOF skills, but should have been snubbed for eternity, just for being a douche.

Rack Kramer for getting in, if a bit late.

T.O. took his ball and went home!
Boo hoo!

It happens to be the very reason why he was not IN on the first ballot.
Looks like he kicked his own ass again.

Stupid pud.

Here is a debate...

Eli Manning.
Hall of Famer?

Most of Steven A. Smith's argument goes out the window if you pull up Joe Namath's page and look at it.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/ ... maJo00.htm

Namath (HoF) had exactly 4 winning seasons (out of 13).

He had the iconic guarantee upset win in the SB -- and he played in NY.

Eli will get IN.
I have no doubt.
The fact that he played in NY virtually assures it.

Rack TO for going against the establishment! These dick lick voters intentionally waited to put TO in the Hall simply because he was a big fat meany to the media, aww boo hoo. Yeah, he looks petty, but so do they. If these people can't remove their personal feewings and vendettas from the voting process, and strictly go off what a player did on the field, they should not have a vote.

The argument is that his toxic behavior strongly contributed to three teams deteriorating.
SF, PHI, and DAL.
I think the argument has merit.

Yes, PHI did go to a SB with T.O. on the roster -- and he did perform very gamely in the SB, but overall, his toxic personality was not a positive.

Says who? A bunch of fat assed writers who didn't even cover the guy? What do his former teammates and coaches have to say about him?

That whole bad teammate stuff was just a convenient excuse to keep him out simply because they didn't like the way he dealt with the media. I mean, Michael Irvin stabbed a teammate in the neck with a pair of scissors. Don't remember the voters punishing him for that one. That seems fairly egregious in the "bad teammate" category.

Fact is, these guys have no way to objectively measure TO's impact on the locker room, good or bad. So they should stick to what they know: the numbers and the play on the field, which was dominant. If you want to use the bad locker room guy argument against a borderline Hall of Famer, okay fine, but not against a guy who's second all-time in receiving yards and third all-time in touchdown receptions. And, oh yeah, had over 100 yards in a Super Bowl on a broken leg. Weak. Sauce.

T.O. got IN.

The Hall of Fame is littered with truly great players who had their feewings hurt by not being voted IN on the first ballot.

Among these great players, only T.O. had to take his toys and go home -- to sulk in the corner like a little BITCH.

Owens was at the height of his ability when he was in SF.
Four straight 1,000 yd seasons.
And yet -- they wanted him no more.
Bullshit fatigue.

He was still at the height of his ability in Philly.
Two years, they went to a SB -- and they wanted him no more.
Bullshit fatigue.

He was once again still at the height of his ability in Dallas.
Three straight 1,000 yd seasons.
Dallas wanted him no more.
Bullshit fatigue.

Oh well.

So if he was such a locker room menace, surely you've got all kinds of quotes lined up from former teammates and coaches verifying this, right? Those are the only opinions that matter.

He played 8 years for the Niners, an eternity in the NFL.

He got a contract extension in Dallas after two seasons with a big signing bonus...why do that if he's such a locker room cancer? In Philly he outperformed his contract but they had a policy in place at that time of not renegotiating deals of signed players. I'm not saying he wasn't likely a pain in the ass at times, but contract extensions (or lack thereof) should not play a role in the Hall of Fame voting process, when business is predominantly governing those decisions. Writers should stick to all that they actually know: stats and winning.
