Was one of the only places I could find 17 years ago to actually get news. All of the major sites were swamped and moving very slowly and ESPN started carrying content from ABC.com. I don't think I posted much, if at all, on that day, but some of you fucks were a lifeline of news while I was watching the horrific shit unfold on TV.

Racks to those of you who have been around this place that long and were providing content on that day.

I like the sentiment, but I don't think it was T1B in 2001. Can't remember which board we were posting at back then. Yes, because I'm old, and my memory is shot from whiskey poisoning.

I found out early on at work, and our employer set up TVs in a few different spots. Not a lot of work got done that day.

BTW, my understanding is that it was an inside job, controlled demolitions, and what not. A pre-emptive GFY to Nicky Crisco, who should be along shortly.

Seems so long ago. The confusion while we were flying was amazing. Then even as the info was coming in and the airspace was closed the ATC guys didn’t know how to interpret it. Could we continue on to our destination, did we have to set down on Cramer John’s crop duster strip?

I kind of thought there was at least one board between Smackchat and this board. That in-between board self-combusted and spawned T1B and .net.

I don't recall much about the "boards" back then. I was in the process of buying our house down here, in fact we were in the real estate office when it was all going on. Someone ccould probably do a Master's Thesis on the evolution of these places from the original Jim Rome board to today's remnants.

First board I remember was run by a guy named David Knightington (I think) Got there by way of the Rome website. DiT was the guard dog. Catfish was the resident wise man.

Agree, it was SC III. I was on that morning for a while, had made some calls to my business partner on the east coast early on and then the phone lines went shit bag for the rest of the day. I was ready to go kill some raghead mother fuckers that day. What was freaky was what Lefty alluded to, absolutely no contrails or air traffic in the sky. Real spooky thing.
