He was at the Giants complex in Phoenix during spring training in 2016. Got to talk to him and bought an autographed baseball from him. Pretty cool to see and meet some of the legends.

Mays and McCovey were my two biggest sports heroes growing up. I remember going to Candlestone every year on "bat day" (which was the only promotional day back then) because it was near my birthday, and every kid got a free little league size Louisville Slugger. "Stretch" was the greatest 1st baseman of all time, IMO, partly because of his incredible reach, as well as one of the hardest line drive hitters you'll ever see.

In his first game as a rookie against Robin Roberts, McCovey had two singles and two triples, hitting the wall in right, center and left field.
