Def Leppard covers "Personal Jesus"
It's been a little while since I've done anything music-related on here. Don't worry, I'm working on something for that.
For now, as I celebrate the 31st anniversary of the "Hysteria" single being released, Def Leppard also has their own version of "Personal Jesus" now. You may remember this originally being done by Depeche Mode and may also recall Marilyn Manson's cover of it some years back.

I like it.
Saw DM at Universal Amphitheater in 1990 at the height of their powers. Amazing show.

Don’t know much about the Bareback Boys but go ahead and enlighten me. You seem to know a lot about them.

Depeche Mode is one of those bands that paved the fucking road. Though they’ll never match the peak of their Violator days in old age, they still manage to put out solid tunes to this day. Practically the entire genre of ‘Indie’ can be traced back to DM.Papa Willie wrote:They're a faggot band. Just like Defaggot Mode.
Just as a Trump voter is not automatically a Nazi even though some Nazis may vote for Trump; the same goes— though some fags may listen to Depeche Mode, listening to Depeche Mode does not automatically make one a fag.
However, arguably, listening to DM may ultimately make you feel like a fag if you’re not yet comfortable with your own faggy leanings. Again, not necessarily a bottomless pigeon hole.

Can we all just agree that Def Leppard blows harder than Moving Sale at a midget rodeo?

This bunch of old guys playing guitar and watching Taylor Swift gyrate around, must have been a long night for them.

Their first two albums were OK. After that nothing but bubblegum metal.Papa Willie wrote:They actually had a few decent songs here & there, but the one above is just over-produced horse shit.BSmack wrote:Can we all just agree that Def Leppard blows harder than Moving Sale at a midget rodeo?

Rack L45B and K-land.
Hillbillies, will NEVER understand complex music.
There's a reason these tards live in Buffalo, Arizona, and rural Georgia.
They're NOT very bright.
Hell, Porky still lives in a trailer park and lives off welfare in rural Georgia.
When was the last time rural Georgia contributed anything to modern society ???
too funny!

Def Leppard is on par with Quiet Riot.
That is all.

I can never wrap my head around how that song came to be.Sudden Sam wrote:Foolin' was the only thing of theirs I could ever tolerate.
Step 1 - Diverge from bubble gum metal, and write a ballad.
Step 2 - Scream with a raspy voice during said ballad.
Step 3 - MORE COWBELL!!!!!!! Whack that cowbell as hard as you can until your arm falls off, bro. It's what makes a ballad a ballad.

Yeah, despite that level of creativity, of synthesis, of deviation from the norm, of challenging traditional sensibilities, and, yes, even despite MORE COWBELL...they still sucked.Dinsdale wrote:I can never wrap my head around how that song came to be.Sudden Sam wrote:Foolin' was the only thing of theirs I could ever tolerate.

I wouldn't say they "sucked." "Sucked" does a very poor job describing the depth, breadth, and scope of their lameness.
The only verb I'm coming up with that might begin to try and put into words just how dong-slurping they were would be that they "fiatluxed."

You know what Ray Charles and the Allmans had in common?
None were born in Georgia, and they all started their musical careers in Florida.

Re: Def Leppard covers "Personal Jesus"
ABB or Ray may not have been born there, but Ray did grow up in Georgia. ABB were from Florida, but moved to Bacon, GA, pretty much at their inception. And I believe they remained for a bit. My guess is that being young, flat broke wanna be rock gods, moving to Macon made sense as it was a cheap place to live.

Otis is from there too?Papa Willie wrote:You should see the reaction to people around here when you inform them - "No - they're not from here". They pretty much only lived here from '69 to about '76. I know Jaimoe lived here up until the mid 80's, but it was still too much for him.smackaholic wrote:ABB or Ray may not have been born there, but Ray did grow up in Georgia. Anyway - they throw fits. Otis Redding was also actually from here, so that's a pretty hellacious feather in our cap as well.

Holy fukk, Little Richard is from Bacon too.
Yeah, absolutely nothing came from that cultural balck hole. Nope, nothing at all. Everything in music worth mentioning is from "The City".
Fukking moron.

Re: Def Leppard covers "Personal Jesus"
OK, so Ray was just born there and grew up in SC. Whatever. I assumed after reading Dinsipedia's post claiming otherwise, it was true.
The fact remains that there is a shitload of musical influence from Georgia, especially early rock. I would say that Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Little Richard, and ABB is a pretty fukking good list.
