You said that you don’t know how or why the decision was made. That’s what you based your opinion on - admittedly complete ignorance of the issue. So obviously the only reason you have to agree with the decision, in the absence of any other information, is who it came from.

As for my opinion I’ll suggest that you read the resignation letter submitted by the outgoing Secretary of Defense.

I will agree with you that, in general, fewer foreign entanglements are better. But given the fact that we are already there, as I alluded to above, there are more ways than one to leave a building. I prefer walking out the front door to jumping out of a tenth floor window.

I would be all for this, IF, part of it involved FINALLY doing something for the Kurds. We have been fukking them over ever since papa Bush fukked them at the end of DS part 1.

They are the only ones in the region that could be an ally, besides Israel. It would piss off the Turks, which was a concern, back when they at least pretended to be our friends. They haven't done that lately, so fukk them. If we were firm backers of a Kurdistan state, it could be a base from which to operate to keep Iran in line.

The Turks would likely eventually get over their butthurtedness.
