The superbloom in Joshua Tree NP a few years ago was awesome.

But most of those were yellow, so I guess God and g0d was pimping the Yellow Jackets then?

Those orange poppies are the “state flower.” Pretty ubiquitous in most parts of the state, west of the Sierras and the desert, this time of year.
