I’d say that incompetence will eventually lead to failure, no matter what the system. It’s happening now in Venezuela. And with our current administration we’re not all that far behind.

Incompetency is not killing Venezuela. It’s not helping but outside (and inside) interference is causing what problems they have and those problems are being exaggerated and lied about. Makes it easier to invade.

The Venezuelan economy has been circling the shitter for quite a few years, despite having the largest proven oil reserves of any country in the world. They're not even able to get it out of the ground successfully. I don't think you can lay that on outside interference, unless it's outside interference that the incompetent government bureaucracy invited willingly.

Outside interference is, by definition, not something one has invited in.

We also like Social Security, Medicare, regulated utilities, environmental standards, the national highway system, police and fire protection, and probably a few other socialistic enterprises. Oh yeah, and the FAA.

I would love to see ATC turned over to private groups. What we have now is a joke to much of the rest of the world.

It is in Canada, the UK, Germany, New Zealand and Australia. The system is funded by user fees and is far more advanced than our system.

Canada uses a non-profit to run its ATC. It’s a good idea because then you have the regulators and the controllers in different systems. Less fox watching the hen house situations. The added bonus is fewer fat greedy fucks involved.

I lived in a community outside of Houston where we paid for additional security from the local sheriffs office. Our HOA purchased two patrol cars, paid the salary for 6 officers, and an enhanced neighborhood watch program. The liberal county commissioner from a few places over initially called it racist. A few of our prominent balck neighbors quickly called him on it and he changed his tune to elitist.

We did the same thing with the fire department. We paid for two trucks and the staff. Same commissioner bitched again.

So damned if you do damned if you don’t.

But generally the less the government handles the better off we the people generally are.
