I will always remember a geology prof in college after returning from IGY studies of the South Pole. I asked him if the ice cap is melting or growing. He said it depended on who you ask. One group said it is melting, another group's work said it was growing. The science was not established then and it is not now. Who has their head in the sand my friend?
