RvW is an abortion of a court ruling. It creates rights out of thin air. It should have been an Amendment.
But, it is here so we have to deal with it. And it clearly uses viability outside the womb as a standard for limitations on abortion. This Alabama bill goes way beyond that.
What really pisses me off about this whole fukking thing is that just when you thought the republican party had figured out that dying on the hill of social conservative issues was a bad idea and was leaning towards Libertarianism, this shit pops up. There are plenty of people out there, primarily woman who will not vote R for this very reason, even though, aside from this issue, they line up mostly on the R side of things.
A better strategy was to look at the other end of the abortion spectrum, abortions of fully formed, perfectly viable babies. When they do this they make the pro-abortion crowd look bad.

I have no problem with someone taking the morning after pill.
I have a huge issue with someone aborting something where a heart beat is present.
The question is where is that line? Since that is hard to define and can be different for each and every baby, we need to error on the side of caution. Maybe nothing after the first trimester.

NY passed a bill that any abortion is legal up to birth, and Alabama is leaning the opposite. Those aren't tiny minorities, more like battle lines.

Regarding Alabama, a small group of people called legislators passed the bill. It's likely to be struck down. But all such bills are being pushed forward to try and get the SCOTUS revisit Roe vs Wade.

I think abortion is fine. In fact, I think every parent in this country ought to have the right to kill off his or her child at any age for any reason. Odds are that most parents would not opt to do this. But it would make abortion a total non-issue, and it might lead to children listening more attentively to their parents.

So, to be clear, you think Roe vs Wade should not have been adjudicated from the bench because those judges were men. That is, after all, what you explicitly said. However, in order to give you another opportunity to clarify your position, can you give us an example of something a woman should never be allowed to vote on?
