I don't believe it's a Democratic Party issue, it's a California citizens made problem. I have few doubts that if citizens were outraged and threatened to vote for anyoneo who would truly clean up the problem, it would be much less of an issue.

But why aren't Northern Californians speaking up? Is it that unless the media is outraged they don't feel the need either?

This is the same reason we have shitty political candidates to choose from, people don't really do their homework and instead vote for whoever has a D or an R next to their names. I’m six weeks into my new assignment in San Francisco and I have not encountered anything worse than the stench of stale piss in spots. I have not had to step over one ounce of feces or one needle. Plenty of homeless nutjobs out there. I do envy how they can sleep more peaceful on the sidewalk in the middle of the day than I can at night in my semi-nice bed. I saw a guy in front of the Meridian hotel sprawled out snoring with one hand in his waist like he was Al Bundy. Yeah, his sleep aid is most likely heroin, but I don’t get into REM sleep like that.
