I had an Uncle Richard, who my son is named after. He died in Vietnam when I was 5.

Yup. Dick. My Sicilian grandma's two favorite actors were named Richard and Dick. So, she picked these names for him. Being an immigrant, I suspect she had no idea that one was simply a common shortening of the other.

I suspect he kept that fact secret. Can't imagine having to go through jr high being called Dick-Dick.

This big black Dick hit a ball harder than anyone I've ever seen when playing for the White Sox. Anaheim Stadium, early '70s - dude hit a line drive that seemed to clear the pitcher's head by ~ 2 feet. Didn't actually start to rise until it was above the outfield, and left the yard in what seemed like 2 seconds. They didn't measure exit velocity then, but that thing musta been traveling 150 mph. Absolutely crushed it.

This Dick was a great guitarist. Played with Alice Cooper & Lou Reed, among others...

And some Dicks are good for comic relief...
