Great going, Canada

You have got to be kidding me.

Raiders v. Peckers in Winnipeg.

Taking rinky dink to a whole new level...

Well, Thursday night’s game in Winnipeg was certainly a memorable one.

After concerns arose regarding a portion of the end zone where the Winnipeg Blue Bombers goal posts were
located, the preseason matchup was ultimately played on a reconfigured field.

In lieu of going the full 100-yards, Thursday’s game was played on an 80-yard field with the 10-yard line
functioning as the goal line for both squads.

Additionally, there were no kickoffs, as each team started with possession at their own 15-yard line following scores.

Listened to it on the terrestrial radio while driving home. Musberger and boomer were fucking up every damn call.
What a circus.

What's rinky-dink?
It's different, just as strange as a 110 yard field. It's only pre-season, have fun with it - gauge your players on they react. Game was probably for guinea-pig reasons on how to improve the CFL. How would five downs work?

It's not for everyone, I gave it a chance and did two straight seasons of Argo games and thought.. meh, not for me. No harm done.

Dude, the NFL plays on a 100 yd field.
Period.

If the hockey pucks are too fugged up to assure that things will be up to speed, the NFL ought to take Canada out of the loop or these international games.

This rinky dink shit last night reminded me of when the Bears played at rinky dink Wrigley Field, and a corner of one end zone was cut off by what I think was one of the dugouts.

LOL

I like the wide open play in the CFL with the bigger/longer field and the fact that receivers can all be in motion. My only gripe is the 3 down thing. Perish the thought of making it 4 and gaining a larger fan base. I think that was a big reason for their failure when they tried to bring the game to US cities.

Yeah, that was it, not the sordid history of rival leagues being crushed by the NFL (except for the AFL).

Didn't those Australian rules officials wear white coats and fedoras?

Odd -- I've been watching American football for 45 years, and every single game was played on a 120 yard field.

That's what they got. The Packers bitched, the Raiders didn't. Heaven forbid one of the little dears trips and gets crushed beneath the weight of his wallet. Should have thrown them out and told to play in the farmer's field. I'd have the useless cunts unloading beer trucks at halftime.

I suppose we have to remember who we're dealing with here -- a guy who extols his football knowledge profusely... yet doesn't know the size of a football field, because he's "tasteful" stupid.

You are a classic dimwit.
But we already knew that.

From the article...

Thursday’s game was played on an 80-yard field

Why didn't they say the game was played on a 100 yd field?

The (NFL) playing field is 100 yards long,...

In order to play the game, they had to move the posts to NFL regulation size.
This was done. Fair enough, someone might run into a giant metal standard painted bright yellow. Who among us hasn't chinned themselves on a lamppost walking down the street :meds:

The Packers were unhappy with the filling in job of the hole left from relocated upright, threatened to take their ball and go home.
They're pompous little cunts, destined to futility. Half the team might have fallen in the hole and no one would ever miss them.

War Memorial Field in Buffalo was built over a garbage dump and glass and various would work it's way up onto the green, the kickers loved it.

Winnipeg is a pro field, you'd think the Packers never played in Seattle before.

Since you upper messicans are all metric, you should go to a 100m field, 10m for a first down, 4 downs.

The Raiders have pretty much defined the term “rinky dink” for some time now. They really should just move to Berkeley.

Yamato-class football field? Interesting. We could just sneak that through the canal and install it in Texas. Of course we would crush you.

But where does it stop? Your cities and towns reduced to a flat, well-tended green surface? Your homes criss-crossed with metre and yard-lines? The sound of laughing children replaced by the calming hiss of sprinklers?
Think on, 'holic.
