The OL and I are meeting are meeting with a local financial advisor next week. Johnson Brunetti is the company.

The owner of the firm does a local radio financial show. Every market has a few.

This all got started when my fat ass got reeled into a free dinner at a local Italian place, where they feed you (sort of) after listening to their propaganda for an hour or 2.

Anyhoo, my question to you is do you fukks pay someone to help you?

Up til now, we have been just plowing what we can into our 401Ks and crossing our fingers.

Should we stick with this, go with a personal advisor or maybe something in between, using our 401k manager's (Fidelity) "robo-advisor".

I have done a bit of research on-line and the consensus seems to be that "personal advisors" generally don't beat the market by the 1% or so they charge. In fact, they typically don't beat it at all. The possible exception to this being they seem to be a little better at protecting you from being mauled by the Bear. And right about now, a little financial bear market spray might be a good thing to have.

This firm's shtick is that they specialize in those getting somewhere near retirement. The OL and I are 56, which puts us at the young end of the people they in this group.

Or should I just go to Mohegan Sun and put it all on balck?

We have a guy. He is paid a portion of our gains only.

My approach with our guy was prove it. I will give you a small percentage of our funds. You make it grow and you get more. He has done that and now manages about 30% of our holdings.

Because this is what all reputable financial advisor's do to get new business.

We have ours with Edward Jones. They charge us 1% and have made us an average of about 13% over the last 3 years. They obviously have some pretty good strategy's. Any good advisor will have specific strategy's for any life range.

I go every year to the free financial planning day held in DC. It's CFPs volunteering their time and you can ask them whatever they want. It's great that DC has this every year though I'm sure all CFP trade groups around the nation do this sort of thing.

I shopped around last year for a CFP and found that it would have cost me at least $3,000 to get a decent assessment and decided to wait.

That's my Uncle Shecky.

I can set up a meet-and-greet with him if you'd like. His office is in the back of his rusted-out Buick Terraza in the parking lot of that abandoned mall on the south side. You'll just have to flash your hi-beams 3 times so he knows you're not a Treasury Agent...please make sure no one follows you there...and he'll have to pat you down to make sure you're not wearing a wire, don't take it personally... :|

I thought he was doing a dime in some Federal lockup in upstate New York ? Fed time is hard time so he must be out now ??

I want to ask you ....with poptards brilliant financial advice, predictions and seeing into the future ? Why not just roll with his usual short the market take and you should be good and be out no jack at all.

His sentence was reduced to 18 months and time served.
