Why didn't OSU offer him? Not enough crootin' stars next to his name? Not like they are struggling for talent though...

This. Bama now doesn’t control their own destiny. They need losses in bunches to make a playoff spot.
An LSU loss in the next few weeks and they still get the nod over Bama.

Yep. Despite their lowly SoS, they still pass the committee’s
looks test.
Not to mention, they beat Oklahoma handily last year and the Pac’s best team (Washington) a few years back, which should boost the more indirect but still existing BCS-era beauty pageant category of presumed SECBSH uninterrupted yearly dominance.

If Bama smokes Auburn it’ll be mighty tough for the committee to put the Tide behind an Oregon team that lost to the only good team they played.
People seem to overlook that Oregon was with their 3 best receivers, and were lining up DBs at WR. That problem has been corrected. And Bama lost to the only good team it played.
And y'all's are naive. You really think money doesn't come into play?
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
And which team has the highest championship game rankings in recent years? And which has the lowest?
That would be Oregon and Bama, respectively.
And who is in charge of the CFP committee?
I'm not sayin'... I'm just sayin'.

Here are Bama's 8 wins
Duke 4-5
Southern Miss 6-3
NM State 0-9
S. Carolina 4-6
Ole Miss 4-6
Texas A&M 6-3
Tennessee 5-5
Arkansas 2-8
Up next for them is 4-5 Mississippi State and 3-7 Western Carolina before their season finale against Auburn (their final hope for one decent win all season).
Sorry but that team barely deserves the top 10, much less the top 4.

First, let's finish the regular season (conference slate for real conferences), and the conference cash-grabs that play to crowds of... hundreds, before we get too wrapped up in this.
But...
http://sagarin.com/sports/cfsend.htm
Of the one loss teams, look at SOS. Winning a CCG should put one of them over the top.
And like I said before... $$$. The highest TV rated big-boy-bowls over the last decade have one thing in common -- Oregon (and frankly, I have no idea why. Big geographical footprint, I suppose( I saw a thing that they have the largest rooting base, area-wise... also odd to me. I would have guessed Texas or ND).). The lowest rated games also have something in common -- Bama. I don't make the rules, but that's reality.
Again, let's not be naive. And Oregon's AD runs the CFP (yeah, I know that's not supposed to matter).
But don't mistake this for calling my shot, but rather, it's wishful thinking. As much as Oregon has improved (and has actual receivers playing receiver), they can play with anyone. But let's play some more games, eh? Every team could still lose, and Clemson might have to play a non-JV team at some point.

So you’re suggesting that Bama does earn their way in every year? If they’re such a money-loser for the networks...
Generally, yes indeed. There's been little debate most years. On the other hand, the TV ratings are obviously an evolving trend. One which seems to point to "Alabama/Clemson fatigue." Let's not assume altruism on the part of the NCAA (sin, Marcus Allen).
You wanna cry about not having your WRs? How about you lose both your starting ILBs (one an All American who calls the D) ? So you start 2 true freshman at critical spots on a defense that’s starting 2 other freshmen.
Or does it not count if you are Alabama?
You'll have to apprise me -- are they out for the season, or coming back (I haven't followed enough to know, I just know they're missing all kinds of LBs).
In Oregon's case, it was all freak injuries before the season started -- they tricked back in over 3-4 weeks.
You should have rolled Auburn anyway. Bo Nix is terrible and he got your Ducks. The Tigers may beat Bama, too , but go easy on the asking for sympathy card.
I'm not asking for sympathy, merely pointing out facts. They should have rolled Auburn. But the lack of receivers let Auburn stack the box as the game went on, because the lack of WR made the offense made the offense one-dimensional.
I think Oregon’s a damn good team. Though the Ducks will have just one good win if they win the PAC. Congrats?
Which would be the same number as Bama, should they win out.
Sometimes, perception and reality are at odds. Which conference has the the best OOC record against P5 teams again? Remind me?
Hint: It ain't the SEC. That would be the PAC.
Which reminds me of a discussion (which belongs in BTPCFB, but CDS needs a break from
certain people) I had with a buddy:
If we could have a hypothetical tournament ("hypothetical" being key, and bowls aren't always a fair balance) between the #7-10 teams of every (or P5) conference (and I chose 7-10 to account for the B10, and the different number of teams in each), I don't believe it would even be close -- the PAC would absolutely DESTROY every other league (and some of those game were already played). The SEC and B1G have some very good teams... who get fat on cupcakes.
Cal (2-4 PAC) vs Ole Miss... wait, we already did this one... @ Ole Miss (I do admire Cal for traveling cross-country to play P5 games, despite our resident Kal fan)
Look at the standings, and be honest. It's not even close.
And to your "only win against a good team" garbage -- How about UDub, Wazzu, and USC in consecutive weeks? While the PAC has 2 very good teams and no garbage teams (Wazzu maybe being the exception), those teams can drop 21 on
any team while their opponent is sipping Gatorade (including Bama). The PAC has cannibalized itself by not having any teams that totally suck (name another? Vandy, Arky, Tennessee, and Kentucky say hi... any one of which Zona or CU would run out of the building).
But let's play some more games first. Maybe another Chaos Weekend in store.
And another thing to consider: IF Oregon wins out (let's not count ducklings until they're hatched), what sort of precedent is the committee setting if they punish Oregon for traveling across the country to play a tough OOC to open the season? Food for thought, eh? I suppose they could have just played Duke at home, and we wouldn't be having this (awesome) discussion.

Of one loss teams, the discussion should really be between Oklahoma (assuming they beat Baylor) and Oregon / Utah. Assuming those are the inevitable conference champs.

My top four at the moment.
1. Ohio State (scary, offense and defense)
2 .Clemson (can beat anyone on a given night)
3. Minnesota (beat a top 4 team that actually plays defense)
4. Oregon (shit the bed against an SEC team like they always do. Had a 2 TD lead in the 4th quarter and coug'd it) Gave up too many points to a shit cougs team which almost made me leave them out.
They simple don't play defense in the SEC. LSU 83 - Alabama 74 or something.
Alabama gave up 31 points to a shit Ole Miss team at HOME for christ's sake.
If it weren't for the San Francisco Bay Area kid... Bama would have lost by 30 points to LSU.
