When idiots say that ted Neeley was a better jesus than Ian Gillan.
God that is the height of stupidity.
Ted Neeley was good. But Ian Gillan is otherworldly as christ.
Not only can Ian hit those screaming high notes like ted, BUT, Ian destroys ted in tone and the lower register as well.
Ted suffers from "thin voice".
Not his own fault, it's just what he was given at birth.
So next time someone tells you that ted was the best jesus?
Tell them they've got a low IQ.

I do agree that the "rock opera"
Is indeed the gold standard.
But I also wanted to point out that Ted Neeley's thin voice and tone was nowhere near the level of Ian Gillan.
And I'm backed up by numerous vocal experts.
