Has anyone heard of Rasputina?

I have been floored by this band. I bought their CD having never even heard of them until after reading a review that intrigued me in Blender Magazine. They can be described as cello-oriented gothic chamber rock.

The CD I bought was called Cabin Fever and it is an astounding collection of music. I dove into their older stuff but didn't like it as much. They recently released a new CD called Frustration Plantation and it is just as good as Cabin Fever.

I am the polar opposite of what I suspect is the average fan of this band. I picture Rasputina shows as being rife with girls in their early 20's who are probably gay and wear weird clothes, yet I am strangely drawn to their music for some reason.

If you want to give them a shot, here are a couple of downloads I recommend from Cabin Fever:

Gingerbread Coffin
Thimble Island
State Fair(the closest thing they've had to a hit)
Sweet Water Kill
My Orphanage

From Frustration Plantation:

Secret Message
If Your Kisses Can't Hold the Man You Love
The Mayor
When I Was a Young Girl

Of course I like just about every song off both these albums, but there's a few to try out. They also do a nice remake of "I've Got a Brand New Pair of Roller Skates".

I would love to report that these chicks are insanely hot, but alas, they are not:

I'd be interested in some feedback if anyone checks out a few of those songs.

tomas, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that you won't like them. If they ever remake a Bad Company song, I'll PM you! :P

Well, tomas, I spoke too soon.

I have just recently become aware of and purchased a Rasputina CD of remakes. They cover Zep's "Rock and Roll", Pat Benetar's "Fire and Ice", CCR's "Bad Moon Risin'", Lou Reed's "All Tomorrow's Parties" and my favorite, Floyd's "Wish You Were Here". There is also a cover of Marilyn Manson's "Tourniquet" and a musical version of "This Little Piggy".

I am not, however, recommending this CD. First you must "get" Rasputina. Any classic rock fan would bust a blood vessel in their brain if they heard Wish You Were Here by a group they don't "get", especially when they are an unorthodox band like Rasputina.
